Gotta agree with you on this one. If Amy took lessons or learned some kind of technique, it would be like buying insurance for your house -- she's put so much of her LIFE into it, that it only makes sense to try to protect it. Just like insurance, though, it can't guarantee anything, but it certainly doesn't hurt.
Also, metalman -- great point. I've heard some things where she sounds so good, it's amazing to think that she produced the same lackluster performances I hear at other times. It's really damaging to the potential she has to become a really GREAT singer.
