What's interesting is that in order to actually solve it (no matter which way you solve it) the last move or so will inevitably require you to really screw up the cube badly. So unless you know what you're doing, the end will just throw you way off... one wrong move and you've messed it up entirely.
It always gets people when they watch, if they don't realize you can solve it. I was bored just the other day waiting for one of my classes to start so I was messing it up and solving it, and I didn't realize that one girl by me started watching me. I got toward the end, where you've only got four middle cubes out of place and she goes, "Oh wow, you've almost got it! Have you ever solved it before?" I said Yeah... and I started in on the last move and she went, "Oh man, you were so close..." another few seconds later and it just came back together again and she was amazed. My method usually only takes me a couple minutes. I definitely can't do it blinded or anything though, lol.
I'm quite savvy with a Rubik's cube. I've made up lots of different moves where you can switch out all the center cubes, or just make really funky designs. I think it looks neater having a cube look like that then actually all solved. I tried to learn to solve it using the layers method, but I found that it doesn't actually work 100% of the time... which I think is retarded.
If anyone wants to try and actually solve it, the first step for my method is to get the white "X". White's the easiest color to spot, so it's easiest to start with. You try and get one face with all the white corners in place and the white center in place (the in-between pieces on the white face won't matter). You'll know if you have the white corners in the right spot because if you look at the cube from the side (with the white face facing upward), the colors on the sides of the white corners should be the same color on each face. I hope that makes sense. ^.^;
