I meant to say that Manic depression is now known as Bipolar Disorder, but bipolar depression is a feature of Bipolar disorder.

DSM-IV is
the protocol for mental health diagnosis according to the American Psychiatric Association. In fact, they publish it. The DSM is the authoritative source for all mental-health related diagnosis. It is, literally, the be-all-end-all as far as practicing medical professionals are concerned. Any mental heath diagnosis you get is going to come straight from that book.
As for the other stuff, I'll concede that.
