Hi!

I'm Sara. I just recently joined, so my newbie experience is still VERY fresh in my mind. I still feel like a newbie in the way that I haven't even been here a month, but I feel at home here now.
When I first joined, I was a little intimidated by the mods. They seemed pretty tough, but now I know they're actually really laid back and only get tough when they have to.

Also, seeing threads closed left and right was part of that intimidation, but now I see that their bark is worse than their bite. :-p
After I registered and all, I spent a little while just looking around the boards, trying to get a feel for it, before I started posting on a regular basis. I felt like an outsider at first, but now I've come to feel pretty accepted. Everyone's done a good job at making me feel all loved here.

*Gets all warm and fuzzy inside*
Here are a few things that I made sure I did when I was extremely new here, say, the first few days (and I still follow):
1) Type correctly. I've always done this, though, no matter where I'm at. No one's saying you've gotta be perfect, but it's nice to be able to read a post without having to decipher "text speak" or "net speak" every other word.
2) Don't be mean. Just because someone may disagree with you doesn't mean you have to jump down their throat.
3) Make yourself seem presentable and approachable. I always try to sound upbeat in my posts so everyone knows that I'm friendly and generally easy to get along with.
4) Also, in keeping with being friendly, when you see a post you like or agree with, give them reputation for it. Now I'm not saying you should go around brown-nosing people, but give credit where credit is due.
