Thanks. I'm not great at giving pointers, but off the top of my head: freewrite. Even if it doesn't fit conventional poetic "rules" - there don't need to be rules. Develop your own style. Don't chain yourself to forced rhymes. But the most important thing of all is to just write. A LOT. You'll naturally improve over time.
My inspiration is a mix of life and imagination. :)
