??? There are four different variables here: 1) a door that leads to freedom, 2) a door that leads to death, 3) a guard who tells the truth, and 4) a guard who lies.
How do you know which door each guard is guarding? There are four different possibilities, but you can only ask one question to determine which door is the correct one. I still don't see how it works out with one question.
