Ok ok, I think I have it! is it...? [ We shouldn't be trying to add the $2 to get it to $30, we should be taking it off to get it to $25. The $9 is when you are adding up to get to $25, so $9 x 3 = $27, MINUS the $2 that the guys were supposed to recieve but the bag boy kept. Then, you add the $3 that were given back to the guys and the $2 the bagboy kept and voila, you have $30.

[ He rides in on Tuesday, spends two nights, and then leaves on Thursday. His horses name was Sunday. (Alternatively, he could have arrived on Friday, left on Sunday and his horses name was Tuesday.) Either that or he has two horses, Sunday and Tuesday]
