My favourite author of all time would be a man by the name of David Icke. He is basically about as fringe as one gets conspiracy-theory wise. He argues that the world is controlled by a reptilian race of somesort that passes themselves off as human. If you are at all curious about this, I highly recommend the book Children of the Matrix. But I will warn ya, don't get it if you are not willing to seriously question your own religious beliefs and beliefs about reality itself.

For political, I highly recommend 1984 by George Orwell.

I also enjoy reading books by the old acidtrippers like Timothy Leary and Robert Anton Wilson...they are really "out there" like Icke, but quite fascinating.

Other than the above mentioned authors, I really like Stephen King. He is truely awesome. Insomnia being my favourite book by him. I also like Louis L'amour. (I've read most of his books, i think. i always like a good western every now and then.) and I like a bunch of other stuff too like Harry Potter, Star Trek, etc. lol

[edit] Tolkien as well! *Can't believe I forgot Lord of the Rings!*

I'd say I far prefer books over movies or tv.
