I write, just because I love to write. But I am always up for constructive criticism...

So here is the first poem of mine in this thread...there are many secrets inside of it, and surely a couple different ways it can be read. As I've stated before, this one is very personal to me...one that, before I read Whisper_Softly's poetry, I did not want to show anyone.


SHADED

Whisked
into the darkness-

For a long time
I have
held
onto the
glints of sunrise
and my
shredded dreams,

...my bright-eyed hopes
of wonder
had long been
ripping at the seams...

It was
lifetimes ago
since that shade
first fell over me
(just as
your hand had fallen
securely over my mouth),


my whispered cries

-of pain-

-of rage-

-of shame-

-of fear-

barely slipping through
the cracks...


my screams
left to grow inside
my heart, my soul
forevermore,
(must separate myself from the shade.
I scratch at myself, the shade)
nightmares
falling upon me
like haunting
shadows
(I claw at myself, the shade)
of you cutting through me
like scissors
to paper...

...I tear through
you...
...the shade...

and I spin into
a downward spiral,
as my tears wash away
the rest
of the "impenetrable"
darkness
I have so long endured.

Yes, it still hurts.
-But you have not won-


-I step into
the light.
