A Moment of Peace...

Floating with the wind
along this abandoned shore...
I cry inside the darkness
that I never have escaped -
for the monsters came so early,
and I noticed them too late.

There has to be a place...
where I can drift into the light,
where I can lay down and not exist,
nor the demons
of my mind.

Could the way to get there
be through the clouds above?

Or is it somewhere underneath
all this dirty flesh?
Maybe just a pocket
inside my soul,
inside my head...
somewhere that my heart flies free,
and the sun will never set.

But shadows I wish to keep,
for this life and beyond -
because without any shade at all,
the good cannot be sought.

So please,
I pray,
I pray...
let me find a little light,
even if just a spark...
whether it lasts forever,
or even just today.
