I know I'm a little rusty, but I haven't wrote in a while ...

Morning
The seductive darkness
Is turned into burning rays of light.
As I awaken
And stare out the window
I see it
The orange glow over the western horizon
That I fear
But somehow find breathtakingly beautiful at the same time.
I step outside
And am hit with a blast of cold air
As I breathe, the chill travels deep into my lungs
Almost leaving me breathless.
I shiver
And feel goosebumps rising on my arms
Oh, how I long to be under the warm blankets again.
I begin walking along the gravel road
Where am I going?
I have no idea where I’m supposed to end up.
The pebbles and stones are digging into me
And I feel the blood flowing out of those wounds
Both real and imaginary
A bloody trail is being left in my place.
I make a right turn and enter an open meadow
A misty fog suddenly surrounds me
It’s so thick that I cannot see in front of me – only grey
It’s just me and only me
Just like it always has and always will be.
The wet dew from the grass
Has soaked my barefeet
Cleaning the wounds
And washing the bloody scars away.
As the cloudy sky clears
The grey disappears
And turns to baby blue.
The sun is high above and its rays are shining down on me
A single tear runs down my face
Because I know that
It’s here.
I cannot escape the beginning of yet another endless day.
I live for the dark – like the vampire that seems to be inside of me
The blanket of night keeps me safe from the outside world
I’m free
I pray each and every night that they day never comes
But still
It always does
