A Song
This is a song I wrote for someone dear to me just before moving away. I wrote it at 3 A.M. whilst listening to Nightwish, the person for which this song was for being asleep at the time (and during a thunderstorm, too).
"Darling, I send my sympathies
It is time for me to follow
The destiny that beckons me
Away from your arms
Darling, forgive this tragedy
Tear away the sorrow
Do not for once think
That we will not meet again
[chorus]
Darling, Darling
Sleep while you can
Cruel love cannot hurt you
While in dreamland
Memories echoing
While you're awake
Only words will comfort you
Then leave you crestfallen
One last kiss from me
Now I have to leave
Promise you will wait for me
Though the pain hath no reprieve
One last kiss from you
You are reluctant to let me go
But we know what has to be
However it hurts the soul
[chorus]
In time you will ask me
Why I hurt you so
Why I pulled away form you
And left you all alone
In time I will lie there
Amidst the anguish that love brings
Wondering why I left you
Pondering those same things
Let the nightmares trample far from you
Cruel love cannot hurt you while in dreamland
My heartstring is attuned to you now
And your sweet embrace
Nights plagued forevermore
By tears stinging my face"--by Pockets
