I swear it reminds me of a harder, darker Joss Stone. Seriously. Can anyone else hear the major soul quality of it, too? Hahaha. It's really interesting. I can definitely see this as doing well on radio. Even top 40.
I think it's because in the intro, the song structure moves into the relative major instead of droning on in the minor key. That, and since it's a harmonic minor (D# instead of D natural), there are a few chords in there that are usually OUT of key (ie: there's a C-Cm chord shift in the song, or at least it sounds like it. It could be C-B7, I can't tell. Too much going on in the song, and I think the D#/Eb is in the bass.) It doesn't stick to just one set of chords like so many of the songs on Fallen did (seriously: Em, G, C, D. That's pretty much all the chords in ANY song on that album. Just speaking objectively.)

Is it against the rules to give a chord progression of the song? (I can do it by ear.)
