This thread is what attracted me to this board. I'm not one who has followed the events within Evanescence. I'm merely just a fan of the music itself. I have recognized that Evanescence members have come and gone in recent years. Ben's contributions to the band were pretty evident in the music of Fallen and the unreleased stuff prior to Fallen. Certainly, there were differences in the sophomore effort, but still a great album nevertheless.

As a fan, I look at it from this point of view. The split hopefully allows us fans of Evanescence to have more Evanescence "like" music to choose from when Amy and company aren't recording. Ben's post is the first time I have heard about his band, and I can't wait to check it out. I'm also psyched about the upcoming Evanescence album as well. All in all, thanks, Ben, for your take on things. Maybe years down the road, you and Amy will be able to share the stage again - much like how Dave Mustaine has been sharing the stage with Metallica again.

Not as a member of Metallica, but being a part of the "Big Four" tour with Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax, and Megadeth. If you go on You Tube, you can see where members of each band come together to do a Metallica song. It was a warm reception between Dave, James, and Kirk. Not sure about Lars though?

Great to hear your FULL side of the story. I remember in about 2004 I was listening to a song you made called "My End Has Come." I was thinking "this sounds like the Fallen sound that I love so much." That sound really doesn't exist in any of the songs after Fallen. And to be honest that sound is what really got me into Ev to begin with. David Hodges is a legend and I hope some day you two will be cool again.

Ben, I read your whole post, It's very well written!

You're SO right NOT to keep silent any longer. It is your absolute right to to do what you love to do best!

It's also your god given right to fight for what you love the most, your music, career, fellow bandmates in WATF, and the dedication you put into Evanescence. Your commitment to Ev should NOT be questioned just because you departed from the band!

You're happy now, happy with your life and career and have moved on with what you live for, love, playing music, writing songs, and expanding as an artist in which you have become and continue to grow as. (If that makes sense)

You as a person have also been put down and made to feel that your passion is worthless with this WATF/Evanescence fued. It's not fair. It still goes on. And it shouldn't by ANY means!

You're an AMAZING songwriter, and thank you for not letting your talent go to waste.

It may not seem like much, but just know you DO have supporters, and that'll never change!

And I'd just like to add that it's great to hear your awesome guitar solos in WATF's music. No disrespect, but I feel it's what Ev's new material is lacking.

Did not know about this until someone posted it on another board talking about the new CD. I completely agree with him. If most of the members from the group go and make a new group or if at least one half of the soul of a group moves to something else, how is it being a knock off? I can't count how many people at Tuesday's concert said Ben was just knocking off Amy. I bring up the point that Ben wrote a lot of the songs, how Evanescence is JUST Amy Lee now (all the old members are no longer in it), and all I get is that the sound is what Amy created, Amy this, and Amy that and how Ben just steals. People are so damn stupid. You can't rip off something if YOU created it.

I'm extremely late to the party, but I still want to comment... I haven't logged on this website in years, but I'm glad I found this post.

I think some of you are missing the point of his post. None of us know exactly the situation between Ben and Amy and none of us know them personally. So to immediately bash on Amy in Ben's defense is doing the same thing as bashing Ben in Amy's defense. When are you going to learn?

I have never hated you Ben. I found it mind-boggling how people call your band a copy when you WERE Evanescence; of course it's going to sound similar.

I'd like to point out that after Ben left Ev, Ev hasn't sounded the same since.

Personally, I miss the sound from Fallen. Ev was my first favorite band and I fell in love with Ev immediately. I was an 8th grader when I first heard Ev on the radio. It was like something clicked inside of me I can't explain. I was listening to the most inspirational and beautiful and ORIGINAL music I've ever heard before.

I do love the experimental direction Amy is going in, but it is just not for me. I do think The Open Door was very good and beautiful, however, it still was not the sound I was looking forward to.

I think we have lost the greatest musical combination of Ben, Amy, and David. Though they do make great music on their own, Fallen is proof that the combination is just not beatable separated. Not trying to be negative, but I will always have a favorite. :>P

Though, like others have said, Evanescence will always be apart of me. Even to this day, I could listen to Fallen over and over and over again and still not get sick of it. That's the only CD I don't get sick of listening to repeatedly. I am thankful that I got at least one CD from this combination of great artists (two if you count Origin).

Thank you, Ben, for contributing to the best album I've ever heard.

I'm gonna be honest, I haven't liked you that much since Fallen and the split. But After reading this message, its like a curtain has been opened and shed the light on the truth for me. I never knew the whole story, especially your side, and I cannot BELIEVE I had decided to do so much as open my mouth and speak against you. It was wrong and I shouldn't have done so.

Thanks so much for posting this. I'm actually giving WATF a listen right now. So far, Don't Leave Me Behind is my favorite.

Before Ben posted that message I was completely on Amy's side and believed that Amy's side is the only side of the story. I believed Ben was the evil man and Amy was the victim, I didn't even consider that this just like any other story has more than one side to it. And when I heard about his band 'We Are The Fallen' I laughed because it had an Evanescence connection (Fallen) and I thought it was just a joke, not a real band. Just a copy and to piss Evanescence and its fans off.

I am really glad Ben posted that message. I don't know how he was able to just keep it in for all those years and take the crap from Evanescence/Amy Lee fans. I wish he had spoken up sooner. I'm sure it made a lot of Ben haters understand him stop hating him, including me. I feel bad for ever being so narrow minded and blind to see someone as a bad person when I have no right to and have no idea about what actually happened.

None of us fans know exactly what happened, only Amy and Ben do and maybe their closest friends. And it shouldn't matter. The music they have created for us is what matters. I have just listened to We Are The Fallen with an open mind and I actually really like it. I love the new Evanescence album and am a diehard Evanescence fan but it doesn't mean that I can't like WATF too.

And the fact that Ben has posted a video where he says he loves the new Evanescence album shows that he is mature enough (perhaps more mature than Amy who never wants to see Ben again) and willing to listen to the new cd with an open mind even with his past with the band. Ben, I commend you.
