A Song, Keep the Singer?
Today my 'band' recorded a song. Its an acoustic since the bass player and drummer werent here. But we all wrote it together. Kind of.
Anyways. Should we keep our singer? What do you guys think? Any tips? Hes a great guy, but Im not too sure. Tips! (The recording was done with a crappy mic so sorry about the quality, we just tried to add a little reverb to even it out) http://www.purevolume.com/thechemicaldownfall |

The singer isn't that bad. He doesn't do the best job with the song, in my opinion. But I also don't think the song itself works, for the most part, and it also doesn't showcase his voice well. The parts that really lost me were the added in "Claire" whispered parts and the bits where there was more than just the lead singer? It sounded like someone else was backsinging certain bits. The voices didn't gell, and those background voices really clashed with the lead. The song isn't that great (I personally think so anyway), but it's all right definitely for your start. Don't be so harsh on the singer, he wasn't really that bad.
End.

IAW^^ I really don't think the singer is that bad. I do think the song itself sort of wanders around and never really goes anywhere. He could probably sound better on something different, something a little more melodious and less meandering. I think I would keep him...I have heard far worse on the radio.
Sorry I'm not much help...but that's all I got.

I think the notes the singer uses, some of them are too low. That's what puts me off the song. Try some higher notes in the chorus, maybe it will work then. The song itself isn't THAT bad though.
Good Luck! <3 - Nina

Thanks for all your input everyone,
Im suprised you say its too low, Ive always thought he sounded too girly. Thanks for the input, though. I think we're gunna keep him. Keep the input coming though, if you want. |

Hmmm actually the first time I listened to it, I did think it was a girl, but I was a little distracted by the construction going on outside. I listened to it again, and he definately sounded more like a guy. I think with more experience he could really work for you, but in this song he seemed a little all over the place. I'd do a few more trials, but he's not bad at all really. My advice is give him a little more time to mesh in. |
