My therapist is having me write down whatever is on my mind as homework, and then we talk about it. Right now we're working on communication, because I suck at it; especially talking in front of people. *shudder*
I've been diagnosed with depression and I took medication briefly, but I stopped taking my medication because it was getting too expensive, it wasn't working no matter how much they upped to dosage, and plus I didn't want to have to depend on a drug to make me feel alive/happy. Turns out that I do in fact need it, because it's starting to get really bad again, but my therapist and psychitrist want me to have genetic testing done before they start giving me teh meds...Dunno why....it's confusing. ![]() Writing stuff down helps wonders, because you don't even have to show it to anyone. Writing down exactly what's going through your mind is like opening a door to freedom; It's helped me get better sleep sometimes, actually. It gets it out of my system. My therapist is a great one, but I'm stubborn, and even when I feel like bawling my eyes out when talking to her, I refuse to cry, or even show like I want to in front of her. Plus, this place I'm going to videotapes sessions (for research purposes only) and I really don't want to be shown spilling my tears on camera. ![]()

I've got another response from 'cazb'.
She requested to be refered to a counsellor, but her doctor denied the request, saying he didn't think it would help. Cazb says she wouldn't care if she had to wait six months, just as long as she was able to see someone. As she can't afford a therapist, the only way she can see someone is if her doctor refers her, and this hasn't happened. I am really at a loss as to what to suggest. I told her to change doctors immediately and told her that her doctor had no right to decide what will work and what wouldn't. Other than that, what the hell can she do? Just what kind of a fucked up system do you people have over there? |

She needs to just switch doctors. Or find a counselor herself. There's nothing wrong with seeing someone to evaluate your problems, and I can't imagine why a doctor would refuse to refer her to someone, that's just absurd.

^ She says she can't afford a counseller herself, and if she could, she's pay for one.
She tells me you have to go on a waiting list to see a counseller - and paying for one yourself is very expensive. I really feel sorry for your guys, it's so much easier over here. We get to see counsellers within a day or two and the government pays their wages so they are free for us, and you guys have to wait to see one! How unfair is that? ![]() |

I don't know why she doesn't post here anymore. I'll ask her next time she PM's me. She'd be able to get firsthand advice, rather than me typing up the advice you guys have given her.

Most of the stuff you've been posting about with her doesn't make any sense, and I think a huge part of that is the fact that you aren't asking her the right questions and she's not being fully honest with you.

I am asking her all the right questions, thank you very much. I know how she feels as I have been there myself so obviously I know what to ask.
As for her not being honest, I don't know. I think she is being very honest, but possibly she is eithor confused, or just has a crappy doctor. |
