There's a number of Amish in nearby communities, mostly south of us in PA. Did you know that in some Ordnungs there are even rules about how big your kitchen counters are? If they're too wide it's considered vanity. Then again there are some Ordnungs that are so leniant you're allowed to use electricity and telephones. At any rate, they make good food.

Amish in the City watchers?!?!
whoa!! i thought i was the only one in the world *except my other friend who watched the show w/me* who liked this show! i'm so sad it's over. they better have a season 2!
Anyhow...enough rambling, i totally saw the finale, and from what i gathered (they weren't 100% clear about it really) was that NONE of them chose to go back to their Amish communities. Randy said that he wanted to go back to the work he was doing before, but planned to not be amish unless he fell in love w/another amish girl. Mose went back to the country, but is not staying in the amish community. Jonas did in fact get his GED and is going to college. Miriam *spelling?* stayed in the city and implyed that she might be going to college. Ruth chose to stay in the city to go to college to become a nurse w/whitney, but said that if her boyfriend went back to being amish, that she would return too b/c she's in love w/him. all of the city kids stayed city kids, but had to reflect on what their goals in life were and decide what they wanted to do next w/their lives. i thought it was a good show...probably b/c i'm somewhat interested in amish life. it's almost like you can see how people must have lived hundreds of years ago. it's neat. i live in ohio and i'm about 4-5 hours away from the amish communities here. i've been to one once, but that's it. the amish i got to meet weren't that open or friendly. only the very old amish men were nice to my friend and i. all we wanted to do was see their horses up close! *which were insanely well-trained!!!* good times later, Amber |

I couldn't stand that blonde city chick (sorry i can't remember her name) hmmmmm she was SO uneductaed she said that chicken eggs were 'chicken abortions' and when they went to Amish country she wouldn't milk a cow because she thought they milked them ALL day until they bled! I can't remember other things she said along the way but i can't stand ignorant people like her, i think it's great to stand for something but educate yourself on it first! And wow i can really see how they would all be so torn between staying and leaving the community, lol, although there are obviously alot of downsides to being Amish they all seem like respectful, lovely people!
