Amy's performance
Well, lately I've been waiting for some good shows to listen to, it hasn't happened.
Ever since TOD came out and Ev started touring I think the only performance I've liked so far was at Zepp, Tokyo. What's up with Amy's voice??? It seems, to me, that she can't reach the high notes that well anymore and that all the songs from TOD are too hard for her to sing live. I've watched Rock AM Ring, Download, Pinkpop, KROQ and some others I can't remember now, they've all been pretty bad. Seems like she doesn't breathe well and she sounds like she's forcing her voice, especially in Lithium. I know she said she's self-trained, but she could use a little help now. |

i think she sings better live than she used to. imho
but I never thought she is live that good, she sings okay but doesnt hit many notes but thats just because she jumps, runs and dances (?) at the stage.. so she hasnt enough air for singing. ![]() |

after the first leg of the us tour for the open door, the quality of her voice decreased. at first my hopes were high. isaw ev in nyc at hammerstein and it seemed like she had been working on improving vocally and over all the show was very entertaining.
then she had a slight break, then did another leg. the beginning of a leg of a tour is usually pretty good and then it decreases from there, i guess from being tired or whatever her excuse it. but now, the fvt, she had off for about 2 weeks before so she should be rested. from what i heard, she was pretty damn crappy vocally. it's a shame really. if she got over herself and got some vocal training and didnt run and jump damn near as much, she would be able to perform amazingly on stage. |

IF (and that's a huge if) she continues to stay in the music business, she is in need of vocal lessons. Anyone with some sort of hearing can tell that her voice is not up to par. By the time she's thirty (without any sort of vocal lesson) her voice will be completely shot. I wouldnt be surprised if she isnt developing cysts on her vocal chords as we speak. She has a beautiful voice, but like any instrument, she needs to keep it in the best shape possible and she definitely is not doing that.
Unless, like Biff said, she just doesn't care anymore. If that's the truth, then I don't feel bad for her losing her voice. That's what you get when you dont take care of yourself.

Well it kind of sucks that she's the only one investing in the live show. When Ben, Rocky, John and Will were there, they were energetic and actually performed rather than just playing. So Amy now needs to run, jump, huff and puff to make it an entertaining show. Plus, yes ToD is vocally much more challenging, but its very ingenuine because she can't pull it off live. Having unlimited takes to hit notes just right is a little like cheating

Every live performance now makes me cringe. I could understand when she was running and jumping, how she was out of breath. But lately she can't even hit the notes to Lithium while she is sitting at her piano.
Yes, it is a shame she feels the need to run and jump on stage in order to put on a good live show. I would much hear her hit the notes instead of see her twirling around. And the sad thing is, she is absolutely doing irreparable damager to her voice. |

In my completely uneducated opinion, it seems the way that she sings on the album, while sounding well, could really wreck her voice by doing it over and over. Especially if she does not sing technically correct.
The same thing is happening to Kelly Clarkson in my opinion. By continuously singing in that deep sultry type of voice, it really strains the vocal cords.
