The Anti-Pop Creed!

1. I will not change myself to confirm to their standards.

2. If I want to dye my hair something not natural - I will!

3. Parents don't understand me and I know that.

4. Just because you don't like it, doesn't mean it's not right.

5. Just because music is my life and yours isn't, doesn't mean it's not a good one.

6. I'm only wearing black, until they make something darker.

7. Theres nothing wrong with a guy wearing makeup, and it doesn't make him a "fag".

8. You don't understand and you never will, so don't even try.

9. You laugh at me cause I'm different....I laugh at you cause you're all the SAME!!!

11. There is nothing wrong with black nail polish

You know what the stupid thing about that is? It says "I will not change myself to confirm to their standards." but then has these 'rules' like "I will NEVER like Avril" and "I will not wear baggy clothes!" and then it says "I'M ME". But if you're being you, and you like baggy clothes, or avril then you're excluded, because your 'conforming' to other peoples standards, 'pop' standards. And it doesnt matter if you follow that list perfectly, and exactly, because then you'll be conforming with what the writers want you to be, and that's against the rules.

I don't think what I just said made a whole lot of sense =/ sorry.

Yeah, some are, but so are some of the "non-conformists".

You have posers in every single subculture you can think of and it's all done just to fit in.

Why can't people just be themselves instead of worrying about conforming to non-conforming?

Even if you didn't write that, it's still conformity. What am I? Different. Not completely, but different.

1. I wear whatever the hell I want to. Flanel, black, baggy, maybe something colorful. Either way, I'm out of style.

2. I don't care what my hair color is. It's the color I was born with. Why change it? I might dye my hair something for a short time, but not permanently. If I were to dye my hair, it would only express my creativity, and as I said, only for a short time. Then I'll go black to brown for a few weeks. Then maybe something like red, or blue. Maybe streaks of red, white, and blue on black hair if an important American holiday.

3. I don't think parents will ever understand their kids, so I'm just gonna be wild forever.

4. I think people should have their own opinion on things.

5. People have heard music since forever, so yeah, but there are different things in life that you have to do.

6. There are a lot of other colors out there. You don't have to wear pink or anything, but there are a lot of good ones. Purple, red, blue. Mix and match, have fun. You don't have to go with that 'matching' thing that "preps" do, and you don't have to wear all black like "non-conformists" do. ( )

7. Guys can wear whatever they want to, but in my opinion, make-up definently isn't the best thing in the world.

8. People haven't been able to understand eachother since they were first put on the earth. You wonder why there is such thing as 'war', don't you?

9. I laugh at everyone, even myself. People are funny.

10. I like Avril, I'll admitt. Not because she tried to dress 'punk' a while ago, but because of other reasons.

11. There's nothing wrong with any kind of nail polish. I don't normally wear nail polish, but when I do, it's not always black.

13. There might be a lot of other people who dress like me, but I obviously don't know them. They could also be dressing a little differently than me, because of my interests in color, because of my creativity. Now that's being yourself.

Yes, if I were to conform in some way, I will be anti-Pop. If you say you're anti-Pop, you're really following a huge trend. If you say you are Pop, then you're also following a huge trend. It's logically impossible to be in between, because if you are half pop, and half anti-pop, you're following two huge trends.

I do what i want to do...despite what someone else will think, I'll wear whatever i want to wear and listen to who i want to listen to...and I'll admit it, I like Avril...more so now that shes stopped all that "I am so punk" shit! Her new stuff is really good!!

This kind of thing really eats me up because it is basically a manifesto of anti-conformity and you would have to comform to meet the standards of this manifesto, so is it even sane to conform to oppose conformity?

And this whole thing about "I am myself and no one is like me" stuff is bullshit because since there are about 6.7 BILLION people in the world, odds are that there is always going to be someone out there that acts, talks, dresses, and thinks exactly like you do so don't try to conform, don't try to not conform, because it is futile.
