Anyone listen to progressive rock?

I think progressive rock is awesome- I just started listening to it. If you're passionate about music, then listen to this because you actually have to pay attention to what's going on in the song- not just keep it on as background music. The timecharts are odd, and its got fusions of different genres of music that are quite appealing when put together.

Some bands are: The Receiving End of Sirens, The Mars Volta, The Dear Hunter, Envy on the Coast, etc...

I listen to Coheed & Cambria who aren't exactly striaght up progressive, but they do delve into the genre a lot in their music. If you like The Mars Volta, odds are you're gonna like them. I suggest you check them out, but don't go by what they've released to the radio. Welcom Home is probably the only single that really represents their sound. For the more proggy stuff look into songs such as 2113, In Keeping Secrets of the Silent Earth, The Final Cut and Everything Evil.

Yeah Coheed is pretty cool sometimes. I'm not actually into the Mars Volta- they're a little to avant-garde for me. I didn't really like the Latino sounds in it, because I can't stand Latino music (no offense). But I put it down here for others to look at in case if they wanted to.

Thanks for the other suggestions- I'll definitely have to check them out soon.

sorry to open up a dead thread but as for progressive music there are a large amount of other bands other than those who are mainstream that are either huge influences of prog or current heavy hitters.. theres.

Dream Theater
Fates Warning
Queensryche
Rush
Pink Floyd
Tristan Park
and of course
Coheed and Cambria
and
The Mars Volta(both of which already mentioned)

Well, my lead guitar loves Dream Theater but even the types of music that are considered progressive can change quickly so I'm not too concerned about it. To me, it's a feat.

prsjoe is on a distinguished road
Dream Theater's " Forsaken "

Dream Theater is an extremely cool , progressive rock band with Metal undertones . Check out their song " Forsaken " on their 2007 " Systematic Chaos " CD .
The animated video is on youtube and it was produced by Gonzo in Japan .
The song is gothic and heavy with chord progressions very close to BMTL in some areas . It's about a vampiress taking a victim in the middle of the night as he sleeps .
I'D LOVE to hear EV cover this song in concert but I don't know if the lead guitar would be able to sweep pick as fast as John Petrucci !
By the way , on Dream Theater's DVD " Score " , Amy is in the front row directly in front of the bass player John Myung . It was recorded at Radio City Music Hall in N.Y.C. April 1st , 2006 .
