Anyone out there?

I can play it pretty well, I'm not amasing and I know I've still got a lot to learn, but at the moment I'm pretty good I guess. At the moment it's just a hobby but I have some friends who are quite musical, so I've been convincing them that starting a band would be a good idea, the only propblem is we don't have a drummer and we don't have a place to practice.

My brother's in a band. If you want to record something, it's a case of finding a recording studio and some people to play along with you. I know there are some studios around that you can hire for some hours and record stuff so...

Excellent you should go for it ask around about a drummer or look in MNE to see if anyone's advertising if a band need a drummer, you could google a studio near Oxford I know there are some, my friend's brother ran one but I've lost contact with him or I'd put you in touch he is a very good engineer.

yeah, I guess the main problems there are money, and costs, I guess the best thing to do would be to wait until I'm at uni and start a band there.

haha, I think I'll use the university's music department, which should be free for practice, I hope. I could always use my wages from Tesco, I'll be able to get a student transfer from the store I'm in at the moment to the one near whichever Uni I end up at...which is useful because otherwise I'd have to go job hunting...and I'd be unsuccessful because everyone wants jobs at the moment.

Yeah, you can transfer from Tesco stores, I know people who do it all the time. You can generally use your uni's music department, because... well, people have to practice, so it has to be open! But to do any actual recording you'd need a studio, if you want it to sound good.

A studio yes but maybe not a commercial recording studio. I know that Cardiff doesn't, and that's quite a big uni, and that's the one my brother goes to. He'd definitely be using it rather than using a different one, if he could.

He's just got two more tracks down, and four more on the way and then he has an album. I'm really excited!!
