Books you would like to see made into movies...

Assuming the same amazing transformation they did with the "Lord of the Rings" series, what other favorite books do you think would make really great movies?

"The Vampire Lestat"
Volume I of the "Dragonlance Chronicles"
"The Blood on My Hands" - okay, so this one's not a book; it's a Mortal Kombat character fan fiction, but it's still one of the coolest things I've ever read!

I would love to see both The Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan and The Recluce Saga by Modesitt made into movies. Both are kinda lengthy (like 10+ books apiece at 600+ pages per book), but it'd rock .

Also, it might be neat to see a movie for Also Sprach Zarathustra, but I think it might be better as a book.

Ooh, ooh. The Eternal Champion series by Michael Moorcock would be fucking awesome. You gotta love Elric.

Amelia Atwater-Rhodes.

Any of her books, nuff said.

Though Hawksong is one of the best books ever written, it will be hard for them to make it a movie without making it look cheesy. Its one of those books where its a lot better in your head than in the hands of a director.

Though people transforming into snakes & hawks is amazingly incredible to think of, when you think about how they would make it look in Hollywood - it would turn out to look like the Animorphs most likely. I don't wanna see that book ruined like that. Hopefully if it does get out, there's a phenomenal director out there that could make an amazing movie out of it.

Ooh...I wonder how they would do a movie version of Elric. He's like one of my boyfriend's all time favorite characters ever!

Agreed. That's true of a lot of good books, and I bet some not-so-good books could be turned into fairly decent movies, though I can't think of any off hand.

Angie - I think if they tried to make a movie of any of the Dragonlance books, theyd make an arse of it.

BUT! I'd love to see someone tackle "Job" by Robert A Heinlein... That'd be the Mutts Nuts...

He's one of my favorite characters too. In all honesty, of the three series I listed, Elric would be the easiest one to do. At least in that, there's not all sorts of stuff that some people can see and others can't and getting confused and stuff (in both Jordan's and Modesitt's work, both of which I highly recommend, commonfolk can't see magical weaves, for instance, and other such things).

A film by Nietzsche? Interesting.

I'd like to see "This Present Darkness" by Frank Peretti.
Also Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan, or the books about Drizzt Do'Urden by R.A. Salvatore (Dark Elf Trilogy, Icewind Dale Trilogy, Legacy of the Drow, etc.)

I would love to see the ."A Dream of Eagles" series by Jack Whyte made into movies. My only fear would be that they could not capture the brilliance of the books

Dean Koontz "The Face" is just begginging to be made into a film.

I love anime too. I'd love to see a movie or multi-part movie made for each of the Lunar (Silver Star and Eternal Blue) video games.
