Touche, but I think it is relevant in a small town where the barber may not have any employees other than himself; if he is good, he spends most of his time cutting hair, not sweeping up. Perhaps it is an unnecessary detail, but it still fits. You could make the riddle more confusing though if the good barber with a nice hair-cut had a neat shop as well. I don't know if you made the riddle up yourself, but I think that detail was meant to be a clue. ![]() |

voiceless it cries, wingless it flutters, toothless bites, mouthless mutters. it cannot be seen, cannot be felt, cannot be heard, cannot be smelt. it lies behind stars and under hills, and empty holes it fills. it comes first and follows after, ends life, kills laughter. my friend told me this one 'twas in heaven pronounced, and 'twas muttered in hell, an echo caught faintly the sound as it fell; on the confines of earth 'twas permitted to rest, and the depths of the ocean its presence confessed; 'twill be found in the sphere when 'tis riven asunder, be seen in the lightning and heard in the thunder. 'twas allotted to man with his earliest breath, attends him at birth, and awaits him in death, presides o'er his happiness, honor, and health, is the prop of his house, and the end of his wealth. in the heaps of the miser 'tis hoarded with care, but is sure to be lost on the prodigal heir. it begins every hope, every wish it must bound, with the husbandman toils, and with monarchs is crowned. without it the soldier, the seamen may roam, but woe to the wretch who expels it from home! in the whispers of conscience its voice will be found, nor e'en in the whirlwind of passion be drowned. 'twill not soften the heart; but though deaf be the ear, it will make it acutely and instantly hear. yet in shade let it rest, like a delicate flower, ah... breathe on it softly, - it dies in an hour. |

The messiness makes far too much sense to not be an important clue, I agree with Paradise.
Anyway, got any more? Here's a joke, but you can work the answer out Why was 6 scared of 7?Oh, and here's an anagram because I'm bored. No cheating! HARPTECAU |

concrete room riddle: [break the mirror, then hold a piece outside the window, then turn it so that it shows your reflection. You're out of the room (sort of).]
murdered woman with scissors: [her hair was cut off and strangled with it? Or she was one of those people in the hospital with life support?] golden treasure riddle from Hobbit: [egg] woman crossing bridge with 2 gold balls: [roll them across, then cross the brigde herself] French one: [shadow] Voiceless it cries...: [wind] Cannot be seen, cannot be felt...: [darkness] 6 afraid of 7: [7 8 9 (seven ate nine)] Didn't want some of the ones no one answered to be forgotten. Anyway, some brainteasers. If there are 3 apples and you take 2 away, how many do you have? You have four nines (9, 9, 9, 9). Using only these nines, arrange them to total 100. Each nine can only be used once. Divide 30 by half and add 10. What is the answer? (a little tricky) If the earth weighs six-trillion tons and you built a stone and mortar wall around the equator weighing one-trillion tons, what would be the weight of the earth and the wall? Why can't a man living in the USA be buried in Canada? How far can a dog run into the woods? |

[9 divided by 9 equals 1 + 99 = 100] Divide 30 by half and add 10. What is the answer? (a little tricky) [30 divided by .5 equals 60 + 10 = 70] If the earth weighs six-trillion tons and you built a stone and mortar wall around the equator weighing one-trillion tons, what would be the weight of the earth and the wall? [Well, the answer obviously isn't seven-trillion... I'll guess at six-trillion still... I dunno] |
