whoa.. i had a feeling thisd be a fun thread, but i never expected it to grow three pages in one day.
cool thanks guys. you make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. (either that or i sat in something) congrats Fweddie! you were the first to solve my 'black dog and broken lights' brainteaser. lots of people seem to have gotten it after that. hehe, no one has figured out the 'olive in stine/ fool's london subway one yet'? or even taken a stab at it? remember, ill take yes/no questions on that. but i think its time for a hint: the riddle not only tells you how to solve it, it tells you how to confirm your answer. extra hint: [not a lot of people know, but people in London refer to subways as 'tubes'] Quote:
hint on the cless puzzle. this probably comes as no surprise, but its the only thing i can come up with short of giving the answer. think about the way a knight moves. if you want to be set on the right track, go to page one of this thread and check the file bjsm posted. hes got the right idea, but in that particular one, the bottom left and top right ons are attacking eachother. [are the windows locked, or are those bars on hinges?] [is there some way to use the table and mirror to pry up the hinges of the door? maybe by building some kind of lever.] is the size of te mirror significant? is it relevant that the table is made of wood? |

(no) Oh gawd, I totally took the post the wrong way! I was like, "What the hell, cut yourself to get out??" But anyways, that's not the answer ![]() And in reply to The Muenk's questions: are you accepting yes/no questions on this? sure [are the windows locked, or are those bars on hinges?] no, the bars are like prison bars [is there some way to use the table and mirror to pry up the hinges of the door? maybe by building some kind of lever.] nope is the size of te mirror significant? nope is it relevant that the table is made of wood? nope I promise you that once you get it, you'll feel sooooooooooooo stupid! And I didn't really deserve the congrats, I heard that riddle before But thanks! ![]() Okay, maybe a hint for the concrete room riddle. [Read the riddle VERY carefully. It's almost like a play on words.] Eurgh, I think I gave away too much. Meh. ps. There's actually 2 answers to this riddle. One is the actual answer; the other I thought of while trying to get the answer, but all my friends agree that what I came up with makes a lot of sense, and would work as a second answer. I got it fweddie... I think. VERY clever riddle!
Answer: Now, it didnt say the walls were concrete, did it? THe walls could be rubber, for all we know. Or there could be no walls.

What i wrote for the answer of the concrete roomriddle is right, i know it, ITS NOT A JOKE and to make it more puzzling the room is surrounded by a moat and 1000000 miles from any other life form (its using the same kind o play on words thing)

??? There are four different variables here: 1) a door that leads to freedom, 2) a door that leads to death, 3) a guard who tells the truth, and 4) a guard who lies. How do you know which door each guard is guarding? There are four different possibilities, but you can only ask one question to determine which door is the correct one. I still don't see how it works out with one question. |
