Breathe No More
Fallen, outtake
Fallen, demo Elektra soundtrack, track 8 Anywhere But Home, track 8 Amy Lee is credited with writing the song. A piano ballad that was originally recorded but scrapped from Fallen. Released on the Elektra soundtrack January 11th, 2005. -- Breathe No More I've been looking in the mirror for so long That I've come to believe my soul's on the other side All the little pieces falling shatter Shards of me too sharp to put back together Too small to matter But big enough to cut me into so many little pieces If I try to touch her and I bleed I bleed And I breathe I breathe no more Take a breath and I try to draw from my spirit's well Yet again you refuse to drink like a stubborn child Lie to me Convince me that I've been sick forever And all of this will make sense when I get better But I know the difference Between myself and my reflection I just can't help but to wonder Which of us do you love? So I bleed I bleed And I breathe I breathe no - Bleed I bleed And I breathe I breathe I breathe I breathe no more

Hey, hasn't anyone else noticed that Breathe No More lyrics are wrong in Ev's official site?
I was wondering if it could be fixed there. One fan didn't believe that the lyrics here are right because they're different from the official site.... |

So.....I don't understand this part of the song:...Take a breath and I try to draw from my spirit's well, yet again, you refuse to drink like a stubborn child. Lie to me, convince me that I've been sick forever, and all of this will make sense when I get better... The reason I don't understand it is b/c she sings of seeing her soul on the other side of the mirror, the glass breaks, and physically, she bleeds, but her soul on the other side of the mirror 'breathe no more'. The lines i put I don't see how they fit in the song.. !?!PLEASE HELP!?!![]() Last edited by DhammaSeeker : 04-07-2006 at 05:32 PM. Reason: unnecessary attachments removed |

This is my interpretation. If you haven't formed your own opinion yet, don't read it.
The girl in the song paid too much attention to her appearance and suddenly realized that her 'self' is turning to only be her face. She tries to change it by showing her boyfriend (or whoever she talks to) her true self, i.e. her soul, but he refuses to see it because he only likes her look, nothing more. Finally she asks: "Which of us do you love?" meaning: "Do you love my soul or just my face?". I think every line fits the song perfectly. |

Might as well through my thoughts into the pot... I think perhaps "yet again you refuse to drink like a stubborn child," was her real self talking to her artificial self, and feeling powerless that the superficial part is taking over without listening to her soul.
"Lie to me convince me that I've been sick forever, and all of this will make sense when I get better." I love these lines, partly just because Amy sings them so perfectly on the live dvd. It always meant alot to me though because I often go through very dark phases and wonder if it's mental illness that makes me feel so bad. 'Breathe no more' just makes me feel less alone in the world. |

Breathe no More (AbH version) is the most beautiful song I've ever heard. I just couldn't stop listening to it. Soooo wonderful. I really love when she sings "Lie to me": my heart breaks, it explodes because of the strong emotion.
I partly agree with Lisathewitch's interpretation. I think the two 'selves' are not her face and her soul, but two complete persons: the real one and the one she continuously lies herself she is (I hope you understand this sentence..). She's afraid to change because she fears the person she loves won't love her anymore. Maybe the line "yet again you refuse to drink like a stubborn child" is a sign of his refusal to accept a change, or it could be the real 'self' speaking to the false one. It's a bit confused and poetic because there are three characters in this situation and their relationships are so hard to understand, so fragile and so strong at the same time. I just think this lyrics is wonderful. |
