The 11 y/o boy scout that was missing has been found alive. He is undergoing treatment at a SLC Utah hospital.

As a den leader for 8 little "wolf" cub scouts, my heart broke when I first heard this story. And made me think about how easy it is to lose one in your group. I'd be devastated, even if it weren't my own son. My husband said that he would make it because of his scout training. I just kept thinking that he's "just a little boy". I'm so thankful that he was found alive and well. And hope that others take this as a lesson to keep a better watch on the children they are in charge of.

He was found about 5 miles from camp.

This says alot for how they were training him for boy scouts. Some people think that scounting is 'geekish' but there is much more to scouting than survival. Leadership is also key. If Brennan would have 'lost it' with his attitude and became scared to the point that he could not think clearly, then this outcome would have been different.

Not only did the survival training that he has learned help him but the ability to understand his danger and stay focused is more of a key than learing to survive off the land.

This, as is everyday, is a good day for scouting and those who give their time to teach the youth of America.

Amen. We take what we're doing with our boys seriously. We are raising up men. Not just teaching little boys. Hopefully the things they learn can help them save themselves, or maybe even someone else, in the future. If nothing that extreme, then it just helps them be better citizens. For all the bad publicity it's received, due to poor leadership choices, it really is a good program. I'm hoping we're making it less "geek" and more "cool" to be hanging out and doing what we're doing. 'Course with a leaders like Will and I, tattoos and all, you can't help but wonder what the "old school" leaders would think of us. I'll be bringing up this boy's story at our next Pack Meeting for sure. These kids need to know the dangers of wandering off, and just what to do if it ever happens to them. Thankfully, I'll have a happy ending to tell.

Well the thing that gets me is why his parents said he "didn't have a good sense of direction". WTF? Maybe he was just starting out or something? But still, even then you learn at least something about direction, or what to do in case of getting lost and so on. Espescially before a camping trip >.<

Ive been watching the news broadcasts about this all day long. What an incredible miracle these parents/this boy were granted. It could have turned out like the incident there last year at this time. A very sad outcome.
People have not been this excited in SLC over a news story since Elizabeth Smart was found.
It is just awesome.
