Evanescence is still a "stunning" band. None of us are in the record business nor do we know or understand the decisions that are made about first releases. We can only guess. Everyone has an opinion on this song and some think that it isn't worth a first release where others think that it is a great first release. Regardless of which order it was released, each song is meant to build an album's sales.

I bet within time, most people will come to love this song when they release the expectations they have about how Evanescence should sound.

i don't think they could really pull off another "stunning" song like that. not because they can't write one, but because those two songs really are what established them as the band they are. As soon as people would hear a song like that now, they wouldn't be surpirsed to find out it's Evanescence. what was so amazing was that they were an unknown band, but they were absolutely amazing.
anyway, i think this song is Amazing, not the "i just rammed the car in front of me because i was too busy headbanning to an awesome song" awesome, but i think it really has the potential to grab a lot of people's attention. It is a kick ass song, and a lot of people can relate to it, which is something a lot of us found to be a big pull for us to the band. Besides, i agree when it was said that Lacrymosa and Wright of the World might be the real attention grabbers. they seem to have the titles of a shocking song. Lacrymosa espiecially sounded spectacular. I just cannot wait for the music video to come out, the music video is probably what is going to get the most attention.

Absolutely! I'm not saying Amy doesn't have talent or enough talent to make a fantastic album. She is a brilliant song writer and I'm sure she can do it.

'CMWYS' is kinda growing on me...I still think it's messy, though =P

just from seeing the original teaser, Lacrymosa seems like a very catchy tune, possibly a good candidate for the third single (since Weight of the World already seems to be the second single )

hey guys. glad your digging the single, and thinking so deeply into it- its awesome. I just want to make 2 things clear- wind up didnt choose this single- I did, and I had to fight for it. I love this song. Also, they didnt change anything about it. This is the way we made it. We fought over the guitar part but eventually just got the mix right. Thanks for all of the attention! (positive or negative- its all good)

Thanks for clearing that up, Amy! Can't wait to see the video when it comes out. I'm glad you got your way in the end- I think Sober is a great first single.

The guitar part? Why did you fight over the guitar part? *curious*

And if I may ask, what made you decide not to use the church organ, in favor of the...jazz organ, I think it's called. For the "You never call me whan you're soobeeeeeer" part.

Thanks Amy. Good to know you got your way, I don't like the idea of artistry being compromised by the powers that be.

(And now that I say that, they're going to--OH SHIT THEY'RE COMING FOR ME)

jk.
