Sweet! I'm sure you'll enjoy many years of great enjoyment from it. Takamine is a great brand!

about the 'breaks' question, I'm not exactly sure what you mean...the pauses, or string muting?

Damn...i was trying to teach myself a chord off one of those websites, but my fingers are kinda small for it...and it was a really simple chord too. But the good news is, i think i understand tabs!! Reading them fast enough to play is a stretch, but for my first time trying at least i see what they're saying. I'm so excited. I'm going to love playing this.

I'm good at playing tabs but I suck at chords. There are too many to remember. I don't think I'll ever get passed tabs. *sob*

About the question earlier on, if you can get an electric sound from an acoustic guitar, you can. Although it won't sound as good. Distortion and other effects can be added to acoustic guitars if they are miced and plugged into the effects, or if it's an acoustic-electric, meaning an acoustic that you can plug into amps. Likewise, you can get acoustic sounds from an electric guitar, but again, it won't sound as good as a real acoustic. There are pedals like the Boss AC-2 (that right?), that simulates acoustic sounds from an electric. I've never tried getting an electric sound from an acoustic guitar, but often use an acoustic simulator. I can't stand the huge bodies of an acoustic.

I think there's a point where you stop thinking about it so much, and it becomes more natural.

Keep trying.

NO one can remember every single guitar chord. I have a book filled with so many chords, it's ridiculous. But it's not too hard to learn how to figure out chords. Chords are just certain notes of a scale played together, and if you know the notes on the fretboard and the chord formulas, you can figure out any chord. I'll type a few here: (all the numbers refer to the note number in a major scale)

major chord: 1st, 3rd, and 5th note of a major scale (ex. C maj = note 1, 3, and 5 of the C major scale)

minor chord: 1, b3, 5

dominant 7th: 1, 3, 5, b7

these are the 3 basic chords. All that fancy C7b9sus4 crap are just notes added onto these basic chords. If you want, I'll look up all the chord formulas and tell you.

ps. There's nothing wrong with just using tabs. My guitar teacher said the only reason some people don't like it is because tabs is guitar music, so people that don't play guitar won't be able to read it. But unless you're really serious about getting a band together, tabs are the easiest to use.

See, my biggest problem is switching from chord to chord. I understand how to play them but I don't think I'll ever be able to play a song because I can't switch between different chords.

I have a book of chord formulas but thanks anyway Fweddie!! Oh and thanks Syd for the encouragement!!
