Calling all the band geeks...

As the title says, I decided to make a thread just for band geeks, choir nerds (as Amy herself once was), or just those who love music. (I did do about 3 searchs looking for a topic covering this, but I couldn't find it, so I'm really, really sorry if this has already been covered )

So, all you music freaks out there, why do you like band/choir, how long have you been in it, what do you play, why do you play it, ect. ??????

I love band because everybody is so cool and its tons of fun to just play your instrument and meet lots of new friends. I joined in 5th grade (thats the earliest you can join at the school I went to). I play the flute, because in my opinion it is the prettiest and coolest instrument ever!!! I was in choir, but in jr. high you can only really be in one, and my heart was with my lovely flute. I'm even in marching band and soon to join community band. I really am a total band geek! (My friends and I always mention band at least once during lunch lol)

So, to all my fellow band geeks, ect. out there, why are you a band geek?
(POWER TO ALL MUSIC LOVERS!!!)

I'm a ex-band geek, and a full-fledged choir nerd. When I was in the 5th grade I used to play the clarinet, hated it, and quit it in the 6th grade. I play the piano, and I am currently in 3 choirs, women's choir, jazz choir and concert choir, and the first two start at 6:45 am before school. I have choir every morning except for tuesdays and we all of them are going to contest. Jazz choir travels and I get out of school for it. I have been in choir since 7th grade, since we didnt really have an elementary choir. Reason? I love singing and hate most of my other classes.

Would drama be included in this, because of musicals? Because if so, its one of my favorite things. I've met most of my friends in drama and its awesome to memorize songs and lines and perform them for an audience. Its a rush and I love it. :-)

Ah. I love band and everything about it. There's nothing like getting in our blue uniforms during football season and play for our home team that usually only wins 1 out of 9 games. Ahh yes. I'm in marching band, concert band, and jazz band. I used to play alto sax but since they needed more low winds I am currently a tenor saxophone.

band.rocks.

I was a band geek for 7 years. But then I decided clarinet wasn't my thing and switched to guitar. I also played flute and piano.

I'm a band geek too!

Well, I'm in concert band and orchestra (French Horn) marching band (mellophone, during the season) and Pep Band (trumpet, because none of them ever show up. Bastards.)

Oh, and I was in two community bands last summer. Twas fun. Plus I got money, which I immediately spent with my even more band-geeky friends at Pizza Hut.

I played the clarinet since 4th grade, and that's what I played in concert and marching band. I also play the alto and tenor sax. I'm taking a year off of marching band this year (11th grade), but I think I'm going to be in it with my alto next year. I play the piano too, but I stopped taking lessons a few years ago, but I still play it.

I'm just a marching band geek. I played percussion in 4th grade, but I quit that year too. :P
I've just restarted this year for marching band. Piano helps keep me in the zone with it, so it's all good.

I do it because I want to.

I am a ChoirNerd. I have been in choir since 5th grade and I am now a junior in highschool. I have participated in 18 solo/ensemble contests and large group contests. Of what I can remember... on ratings from 1 to 5... 1 supior 5 being well ya.... I have recieved 4 1's for solos and 2 2's and in ensembles have recieved nothing lower than a 2. I don't ever stop looking for local contests or anything. I am taking drama/acting class at school for the 2nd year. I have participated in numerous shows and have had a few solosand I have done 2 musicals involving our choir. (Charlie Brown.... just the choir part/ and The Wizard of Oz-- I played dorothy) I tried out for a show choir (Women's Chorale) and Symphonic choir... (one of the best that's not a show choir) and Made both. So next year I am going to be in Women's Chorale, Symphonic Ensemble, Symphonic Choir, and Class Act. I have been working on a piece for Symphonic choir for a while, hopefully will get done before school starts again. I play the piano... I am 16 and have been playing for almost 9 years now.

Everybody's Fool,
Christy
