I have it! I get picked on a lot by my friends for pushing all the crumbs off of the lunch room table and eraser shards off of my desk! And other things like, I have to do stuff in an even number and capitalizing and spacing after each period. I know how you feel! I hate it when people label me as a "neat freak." It's so annoying! But yeah, you're not alone!

I'm a bit late here, but I'm exactly the same way (except for my roomO_o). The only real problem it gives me is at work. I work at Target, and we have to do this thing called "zoning" basically making the store look nice. Depending on the isle it make take me half an hour-a full hour on one isle, because I need it to be straight, and I really prefer even. For example, Shampoo, All the Shampoo and conditioner and stuff HAVE to be in two rows, and I feel much better if it were even, if there are any uneven, than the first row (often on the left) must have the extra one. Or another example. Stacking. I.HATE.STACKING. Anything that is stacked I MUST unstack if possible, if theres no way to unstack it, than i will stack from the back. I really hate it. Sometimes I feel bad because people have to come help me, and i dont thinkthey fully understand, i'll tell them, but they sorta just laugh it off:-P If you do go to a therapist, just make surethey treat you as an equal and take you seriously. My former therapist refused to believe that I had anything wrong with me. She wouldn't believe me when I said I had ADD. Now I told her it wasn't serious, but Hi, EVERYONE in my family has it, and prety sure I do, and I dont give a shit if you dont believe me. lol. Just make sure they will honestly listen to you.

i'm definitly late to ths thread. ori havent been in it for a while to remember being in it, one of the two. i'm limited for time right now, so i wont make a seriously long post, but anyone who has read my other threads knows ihave a case of OCD so severe it required professional help to keep me from destroying what little i had left of a normal life a couple of year ago. i will definitly be back to talk this over in depth in a few days. good luck to everyoe here who has to deal with it, it really sucks.

I've had OCD for as long as i can remember and its the best and the worst thing thats ever happened to me, it may sound weird but its true. I count everything. When i did my GCSEs at school i couldn't start the test until i had counted every tile on the ceiling and when i walk i walk in steps of three. When i was younger i had obsessions with doing things in even numbers, mainly twos.
I also have an obsession with maggpies, the one for sorrow two for joy thing, i get realy worked up about it and i'v noticed that i also count things that i eat. If i have a bowl of cereal i have to count every little piece and make sure that i eat a multiple of three. It realy irritates me but deep down inside i don't think i want to get help because i sort of enjoy it sometimes, especialy if i see two maggpies, it gives me little lifts to get through the day . . . I just wanted to tell someone thats all |

I had it really bad when I was about 15, to the point my life was affected and I had to go on some sort of medication to try and stop it.
I had an obsession with counting, and with touching hot things, you know, the front of the fire place, boiling water, because I just couldn't believe it was hot without touching it. I admit I liked the stab of pain I got when I touched hot things, too. I'd cut my food up into an even number of pieces and I couldn't eat it if I couldn't cut it up like that. I don't count anymore but I still have a little obsession with the number thing, but it's nothing I can't cope with. The scary thing about OCD is thinking that something bad will happen if you don't do something, and I used to feel like this too, but eventually I started to think this was a rather irrational way to think, and when I made myself stop doing certain things, nothing bad happened and I actually felt good because I was controlling myself. It became easier after that. Took me about two years to get over, and it's still there but like I said, you learn to cope with it so mine is only a very minor case. |

my ocd is horrible, it tags with my depression, my high-anxiety, my oppositional defiance disorder, osgood-slaughter(sp?) disease in both knees, double vision, and loads of other crap that i dont remember the names. but what helps me the most is simply having a person to hold your hand through the tough times, a friend to stand by you, a lover who holds you while you cry. what you need is a friend.

I think the best thing for someone with OCD is to get treatment, which usually consists of some form of therapy coupled with medication. I just feel like it's something that affects everyone else around you, not just yourself, and if there's something that you can do to get better, you need to work at that. It's nice to have friends and family that support you, but the bottom line is that you need to get necessary treatment. Period.

But as I got older, it got a little better. I just take one day at a time, and try my hardest for it not to get out of hand. If yours is really bad, just ask a therapist what you can do, and different methods there are you can take. How bad is youre OCD? With mine, everything has to be a certin way, and everything has to be very clean at all times, and my clothes, if I see one speck of dirt, I will change, even if its not noticeable. I had to see a doctor for mine, and since then, things have gotten better. I hope this helped a little. ![]() I hope things get better for you, and try not to worry to much, because you are NOT alone!! ![]() <3
