Pale Enchantress

I highly doubt very many people have heard of this band, but I know there is a good amount of people who like death metal and "odd" music here. The best words to describe the music of this Finnish quartet are probably "bizarre", "abstract", and "extra-terrestrial." Unlike many death metal bands they strive for atmosphere rather than heaviness, their guitar riffs are very unique, song titles are long and ridiculous, and vocals insanely low and "alien" sounding.

Antti Boman (Vocals, Guitar), Aki Hytonen (Guitar), Ville Koistinen (Bass), Mikko Virnes (Drums) formed Demilich in 1990 in Kuopio, Finland. Their single full-length album "Nespithe" was released originally in 1993 on Necropolis, but the band never got any royalties from it and allow people to download Nespithe and numerous demos for free on their website (http://demilich.doesntexist.com/.)

In my experience people either love this band or hate them. Lots of people dislike the vocals (they're very low and it sounds like he's burping but in fact he makes them by exhaling) but I think they match the odd guitar-work very well and add a lot of atmosphere to the music.

If you can tell by my description that this band don't seem your type don't even bother because most people won't like them. But if you're intrigued go over to their website and download a few tracks off of Nespithe. My favorite songs right now are "The Echo (Replacement)" and "(Within) The Chamber of Whispering Eyes" so you can try out one of those first.
