Thanks to all of you for your kind and thoughtful comments. Everyone here has great potential as writers and it's beautiful to read what happens when it all comes together.

Nameless I aboslutely loved your last entry. You portrayed your message in a very subtle yet powerful way. I'm interested in reading your other works now.

CharmedOne...you are totally right, we should totally get a book for this site on the poetry. I would totally buy it and whore it around my school, trying to get as many people as possible to read it and buy it. i think it would make a great way to promote the band too, through the fans work, we spread there name...ya know? totally dedicate it to them(and whom we wish as well) show people that music can be an ispiration, rather than a pass time. lmao...i'm way into promoting the band...
But you guys need to get published!!!all of you!!!! you all have amazing talent!!! Have any of you ever tried??? I've never tried but i'm thinking about it. Just to like send it to a couple of websitesd and see what they think...ya know?
But also, i have to suggest a website to you guys. If you're really interested in just posting your stuff randomly, and want a really, poeticly friendly site to just promote your own work, and critique others, i have to suggest a website called Allpoetry.com. I don't know if you guys have ever heard of it, but it is a wicked awesome site. I'm on there with the SN Ares DeWinter. So if you do decide to join(it's free) just send me an IM over the site and i can help get you started! Plus also, they have a great many amount of contests, and they also have many groups you can join(especially Evanescence Fan groups.) theres a really good one on that site too. Though recently it has been unactive. So if you guys want, just check it out...i swear it's worth it!
But now, i just have to say, that all of you guys have amazing talent!!! you all need to get published so i can read more too!!! I'm trying to start a library of poetry books in my room, and i have all the classics, but i want some new raw writes for this century(lmao...). So if you guys could get published,(even just post your stuff on this other website) it would totally be accessible to others. It's a great way to promote yourself too, because everything you post on there is Copyrighted. So you don't have to worry about others stealing your work because you could literally sue them, as long as you can prove you are who you are. Which is easy enough.
So with that said, good luck guys!!! May your muses be gentle and your words beautiful!!!

First of all, I’d like to thank GirlWithAMic, CharmedOne, and Ayria, for your comments; I really appreciated them.

Distant Memories:

It’s funny that you brought up people here publishing their work. And you made an excellent suggestion about posting online. Another good place to share poetry is at www.thestarlitecafe.com.

Using a search engine, you can find a lot more too.

I post in about a dozen different places, including here, and it’s extremely helpful if any of you are looking for feedback. Be careful when entering poetry contest online though, because many of the people that sponsor them will try to get your money in a variety of ways, including offers to publish your work. They do that so you will buy the book for an outrageous fee. Check with the Better Business Bureau before you give anyone rights to publish ANYTHING that you’ve written. And if you use a pen name to post your poems on another website, make sure that you register under your real name if you’re worried about copyright infringement.

Also, as I’ve mentioned in my own thread, my book, “Sententious – Subtly Changing,” is in its final stages of production, and a release date will be announced soon.

If any of you are interested, check out my website. You can find an introduction to the book there, with audio, and a preview for the one that I am working on now, as well as some information about the book, and me also.

Take care everyone….

And have a great week.

I've actually been to allpoetry.com It's a pretty good site, but I honestly prefer poetry.com or americanpoetry.com Both sites are worth checking out as well. As for the Evboard writer's group book, I'm in....we should figure out how to get started huh?

Totally into the idea of getting our work published. Does anyone own a copy of the 2006 Writer's Market? I have a friend somewhere who owns an older copy, I think it's from 2001 or something, but apparently it is very helpful for people who are trying to break into the industry. But I heard a copy is somewhat expensive...anyone own one?

Nameless, your poem made me cry. This isn't going to be a good comment, and I'm sorry for that. But your entry just hit me extremely close to home...like a ton of bricks of my own reality falling on me. Your depiction is wonderful and beautiful as ever, though.

Going to tie up a few more loose ends...finish off some notes.

FelicityS: That is an amazing piece of work. I love the realism of it, the fact that you can be so inspired by the life and times of one human being. The poem is stirring, beautiful. Great job.

Darko: Sad, compelling, heartrending. I like this one.

A*Morbid*Thought: I think your writing style is great, especially your use of rhyme. However, I'm not crazy about the concept of using Evanescence titles in your poem to that extreme. I think that something completely in your own words, would be something that much better.

DistantMemories: I like it. Dark, deep. Your use of wording is lovely, and invokes strong images. Excellent as usual.

Great job everyone!

Only a couple more days left for the "Open Door" topic already? Yikes, that went by lightning-fast.

Nameless: Chilling and thought-provoking. I know that other members used those same words to describe the poem you posted, but it is. The ending was sad, of course, as the mother seemed completely unaware of what had just happened to her little girl while she was gone. I found that incredibly haunting.

A Morbid Thought: I thought it was an interesting idea to use the "Open Door" song titles in your piece. It was almost like it summed up what the album might be like. But like Lexi said, I almost thought it was a bit much to use all 12 titles in there. But thumbs-up on the attempt.

Distant Memories: Oooh, spooky stuff. But awesome, too, because I don't remember anyone else touching upon witchcraft and voodoo in any of their WG submissions yet.

Melanie: Very honest and heartrending. It tells such a great story with such a valuable lesson. This style seems to suit you perfectly, hun.

I silently told myself that I'd never do this in this group, but I just did: posted something old of mine.

Really, I tried to create something new. But it's really been taking a toll on me. So I pulled up an old poem of mine, which I'm not particularly fond of - but that means so much to me, all the same.
