Carrie Lee’s fascination with pop stars such as Britney Spears
and Christina Aguilera was the inspiration for the song. Amy Lee said that Carrie, 8 at the time, started to dress as those two superstars and that it angered Amy. It is track #3 and the fourth single off of Fallen.

The video, directed by Philip Stolzl, is a live action video that portrays the life of a glamorous superstar (played by Amy Lee) who is really unhappy with the way she portrays herself in the media. She sells Lies consumer products (perfume, pizza, and soda). Towards the end of the video she expresses deep regret for selling Lies in the first place. The video was filmed in Los Angeles in mid-April 2004.

Four versions of the song exist:
*The Fallen version
*The instrumental version on the Everybody’s Fool commercial single
*2 demo versions.

note: the CD itself is green silkscreen with the circle 'e' logo. The front of the insert features a picture of the band (including Ben Moody, who wasn't technically in evanescence when this single was released) and the back features a green design with the track listing/track info.

note: this is the only single to date that was not released as 3" European Pock-It® CD.

Minor blooper in the video:

In the elevator scene with the two blondes, part of the cameraman's arm is visible for about two seconds to the immediate left of Amy's hood. (6:52-6:54 on the DVD.)

video miscombobulationisms:
In this elevator scene, the girl with the sunglasses on her head ("Excuse me.. Are you who I think you are?") tells her friend to ask if she is amy, but she ends up asking her herself..
The girl who says "She looks SO much older than I thought she would!" in the elevator is still saying "than I thought she would!" but the video shows her laughing, but shes talking..?

When Amy smashes the mirror you can see that she has some sorta object in her hand.

On the motorcycle scene where Amy flips her hair, you can see Terry laughing in the background.. I only mentioned this because I recall an interview (I think an MTV one) where Amy says they were laughing at her when she was doing that scene.
