Actually, when you listen to the demo version, it sounds a lot more like 'hell' than 'town'. If you listen very closely, you can even hear the 'ell...' at the end.
Since the voice is edited the exact sounds of the letters are distorted but after listening to the demo version its definitely 'hell' in my book. |

To the whole lyric thing I'm going to go with what has been posted even though for ages I was convinced that it was 'place' not 'hell' or 'town' but then I am partially deaf so I stuggle with things like that. *shrugs* Oh well...
Anyways, someone mentioned earlier that the was a 'Father Away' with a drum intro and I was wondering if that was the live version found on the 'Anywhere But Home' CD 'cause that was does have a drum intro. |

Is it not possible that originally in the Piano version (assuming the piano version came first) it was Hell, as I agree it sounds distinctly like Hell and nothing else, which later evolved into Town (because again without a doubt there is a very distinct T sound and even "own" sound following that) for reasons which I would imagine only the band could answer (it's not like "run away from this town" is jibberish or without possible meaning... the town could be hell afterall).
Even through my best imagination and concentration I just can't hear the guitar version as saying Hell... there's no way to twist the sound of the words to fit IMO. |
