Given that this board was founded on the Gothic Metal sound of EV, I wanted to ask if that is most everyone's favorite genre of music, and if so why, and if not, which one is and why.

This is NOT for scientific research or anything, just finding out how diverse everyone is music wise.

I'll start off this thread by saying the only music that I really don't listen to is opera. I have listened to pretty much everything else. Now I have to clarify that be saying that that doesn't mean that I will put anything at all into the player...really bad singing will get you ejected pretty damn fast in my house. From country to metal, though, I've had CD's of it all.

I agree that this thread should be put in the music section, I expect a mod will move it. Anyway, my favourite genres are probably gothic metal, symphonic metal and black metal. I don't like pop, rap or hip-hop, but apart from that I can tolerate most genres of music (unless it is really bad).

BTW Evanescence are not gothic metal, even though there are some similarities in the sound.
