The original doom games!! Knee deep in the dead (demo) had the best music ever!! Alright, Im biased. One of the first, and still one of the best games Ive ever played.

Gotta love the music for the title screen of Jungle Strike & Urban Strike on the Mega Drive or Genasis depending on your village~

Love the battle music from nearlly all the Final Fantasy games~

Hmm... I'm sure I'm missing out some classic amazing soundtracks... old skool retro games have the most addicting music~

I played Hitman Contracts.

Cool soundtrack- ranging from rave/techno, to dark epic, to piano, to fast action style, etc. Just cool.

And Shin Megami Tensei [Devil Summoner]: Nocturne.
Lots of metal and rock. In fact- the entire soundtrack is rock/metal, but is just a score (no words, no bands or anything)

Final Fantast VIII has the best music, I think. Only in my opinion.

I love Nobuo Uematsu, so I'm pretty much in love with all the Final Fantasy music starting from about 3. If I had to pick my favorite one it would actually be either FFX or VIII.
I also love the music from The Bouncer, mostly the ending theme, it's so gorgeous.

The music for FFX is great, they had a symphony orchestra performing that in Sydney a while back.
Anyone know where I can get it? Can you buy it?

I'd say mine was the Lord of the Rings music from Battle for Middle Earth but I suppose that is more movie than game.

Either Zelda on the N64 or Need for Speed underground 1. Need for Speed Underground 1 had an awesome soundtrack and it suited the game to a tee, really got my adreniline going as I was playing it.

My fav's are

Chrono Cross~ Chrono Cross Opening
Chrono Cross~ Star-Stealing Girl
Castlevania~Dracula X~Lost Painting
Castlevania~Dracula X~Remix 2
Suikoden II~Reminiscence
Ultima~The Resistance
Xenogears~One Who bears Gangs at God
Xenogears~Light from the Netherworld
Xenogears~Small Two of Pieces~Restored

There is more.. can't think right now.

Will you marry me? :\

Seriously...hm...

I liked Trance Kuja's theme from FF9, Abyssion's music from Tales of Symphonia, Magus' theme from Chrono Trigger...and I liked the world map music from Chrono Trigger, too...

I also remember liking some themes from Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals...

But you'd REALLY have to be into old school RPG's to remember this one: Tecmo: Secret of the Stars.

IMO Chrono Trigger is superior to all the FF games, including the music.

I love that game. I'm usually not big on the whole FPS concept, but this game is just perfect. like. whoa.
Damn straight! That is by far my favorite video game soundtrack. I like some songs from other games, but that game's take's the cake. I love the mix of rock, electronic, and symphonic music that makes up the score. Songs like "On a Pale Horse" (a dramatic string-laden symphony piece that often plays when you're on those high bridges in the 5th and 8th levels) blow away a lot of other instrumentals I've heard. The funny thing is, I don't really like the Halo 2 soundtrack. It has too many guests on it (Steve Vai, Hoobastank, Incubus, Breaking Benjiman), and there is way too much fluff, as in the way they over-orchestrate the simple themes from the first game (like the monk intro song from Halo 1). I know it "sounds better," but it just doesn't feel as creative or innovative as the first game.

its cool, we can only have 1 channel of audio plugged in b'c we're too cheap to buy a y adapter so you get a unique type of music depending on whether you plug the red or white in.. but.. yeah. its awesome.
That song, especially that version, rocks! I still get chills sometimes from the drum intro. It really pumps you up for that part. That is the kind of song I feel was missing from Halo 2. Don't get me wrong, I love Halo 2. I just don't care for the soundtrack as much.

As for other games I like the music from, they include the Metroid theme, anything Castlevania, and lots of music from Final Fantasy VII and X.
