power of a system is nothing without games. I am not expecting PS3 to do well at all, assuming it comes out in 2006, until about 2008 or 2009. PS2 came out back in 1999-2000 (don't really remember) or so but it didn't bring out any good games till last year. Also remember what happened last time Sony made a system then tried to shove out too many too fast? they had an antialiasing problem with the systems and didn't have enough systems to supply demand so only 100,000 were shipped here the first day, next supply didn't come until 2 months later. I remember that our walmart only recieved 4.

There is no way that it could have the power of 100 pentium 4s. My friend's pentium 4 is 2.5 Gigahurtz. That would mean that the PS3 would be 250 gigahurtz. we don't have that kind of technology yet, seeing how the fastest processor out right now is 3.2 gigahurtz. We could have the technology to make it, but not for it to be stable for too long. It would over heat in like 3 seconds. Plus Sony wouldn't be able to afford losing that much money on mass producing a processor like that. Also taking into consideration that the fastest pentium 4 out (the 3.2 ghz) at the cheapest is $646. That would make the system to have to be about $2000-5000. So there is NO POSSIBLE way that it could have that kind of power.

ok let me quote a games magazine... so you won't have to ONLY believe me (i know quite a bit about games):

Fuck all that noise. I want a GAMING CONSOLE!!!!!! Not some multiple use thing. TiVo is the devil anyways. I could make something out of a cereal box that is better than that piece of shit. I still don't think that there is ANY way that Sony could make a processor work at 320 ghz. IF they did though, which is not outside of the realm of possibility, then as I said earlier, it would cost WAY THE HELL too much to mass produce it. And with all those special features and shit on it, you can guarantee that it is gonna be costing way more than 500 bucks...thats without the processor.

Also, the system may have the specs, if it will ever run without burning up, but who is to say that they will have the power of the games? Sure it will be able to play the PS1 and PS2 games, as well as it's own, but someone upgrades to play the new stuff, not to play the old. I seriously doubt that they will have many good games for it. PS2 had NO good games till last year.

Do you remember why companies such as Oddworld Inhabitants when to Xbox? Because games were fucking hard to make at first on the PS2. Take that difficulty, and bring it up to speed with that technology, and try to imagine how hard it would be to make a game for it.

ok let's see:

you'll have a gaming console, and if besides that you can record programs, burn stuff, copy games, and a lot of other stuff, IT'S WAY BETTER... besides add the price of all the stuff you'll need to play games, burn stuff and record stuff, that's way over 500 bucks, bcz the ps2 alone was at 300 when it first came out remember??

it's great that this will come out... as for the games, there were some PRETTY DECENT games for the ps2, yes not a lot, but hey, i got the bouncer, FFX when i got it, those 2 are cool... besides even if the ps3 doesn't have cool games i can play every other game i have, play dvds on it, record stuff, play music, and get online on it... consider the posibilities man.. think outside the box...

as for the programing, the only thing that they have to do (SCEA) is program the ps3, then make it compatible with the games, and then the games will come out... the games don't need that kinda programation, it's the PS3 that needs it...

Eh, yeah, I'm with Trogdor on being more concerned with the games than the specs, but meh... perhaps I'm the only one here that is of the opinion PS2 is the only console putting out decent games anymore. Kingdom Hearts, FFX, Xenosaga, Silent Hill 2 & 3, Shadow Hearts, Dark Cloud... I can think of maybe one or two I would be interested in on the Gamecube, and none for X-Box. All a matter of taste. And really, how can one judge if a system's going to fail because of crappy games when one has no idea what games are scheduled for it?

um.. how about this. go to a store, find a system that has enough games you want to make it worth buying. buy that system. take it home, use it.


i for one like the extra features. we kinda didnt have a DVD player til we got out ps2 and stuff.

I am gonna laugh if the ps3 comes out and it doesn't even work right (i am meaning all the peripherals).

You can't base a system off of power only. There was supposed to be a super strong system coming out from Linux called the Indreama. It looked bad ass, had more power than the ps2 and the GC combined, but it never came out because they were just some people working out of a closet. There were maybe 30 people working on the entire project...but it had the power. They had 13 games lined up (some looked good, some didn't) for launch, but it crapped out and never launched.

If the ps3 ever does come out, i bet it will be like most other systems that have come out lately and 3/4 of the games that come out for it will be sports games. I am so tired of fucking sports games coming out. I mean, really, who the hell needs 4 different versions of Madden. You play one, you have played them all. I am still content with Tecmo Bowl for NES.

I think that if there aren't that many good games out for the PS2 right now, then there is gonna be a whole lot of shit coming out for PS3. They have some good exclusive games like Rygar, ICO, FFX, and Kingdom Hearts. ZOE was good too. Other than that, most of the other games suck fat fat wang. I do hope Silent Hill 3 comes out for the Box though. It is coming out for the PC.

There really haven't been that many good games out for PS2. I think I will be feeling some flames from this but, I think that I am the only person on the face of the planet that DID NOT LIKE GTA3 and Vice City. I mean GTA3 was just really fucking lame. VC was good because of the music and the katana, but other than that it was just like GTA3 + buying real estate.

hmmp well you're right that thing about linux didn't come out... but how can you compare a project where 30 people where working at, with something sony's developing, they have already spent over 400 million dollars in it... so don't think it'll be lame..

the list for cool games for PS2 is bigger, maybe not everyone is exclusive, but since the GC used minidiscs there are some games with better features than in the GC:

GC is making only childish games, come on they don't even have 1 single mature game... and every game with childish chars, adventure and stuff, and the XBOX sux big time, microsoft didn't have a lot of contacts in the game industry, so even if the XBOX is the most powerful console there is, it's lame right now...

the PS3 will be great, germ's right, maybe some cool Tekken, or Soul Calibur, Silent Hill, FF, Xeno series game will come out along with playstation, MAYBE ven some other games cooler than what we know...

oh yeah and Naikuu's right, ViVi's cool, it was the only one that had the essentials of his job (dark mage), well there was freya with the dragon knight style, but A RAT... come on... hehehe

Look dude. The size of the disks for GC doesn't limit what you can put on there. They have the same capacity as the others.

OH for the record, Tekken sucked wang. Soul Calibur was good, but its gonna be best for GC because PS2 is getting tainted by some guy from Tekken and Xbox is getting fucking Spawn.

Xenogear was good but the second one sucked wang because it was all just a fucking movie. My friend played for 20 hours and said he got to play 3 of it really.

Dude... Xenosaga is an RPG. Story and cutscenes always take precedence over gameplay, and honestly, it's not like Xenogears was any better.
