So, my favorite's still Seven, even if only for Sephiroth alone. But Chrono Trigger wil always be the greatest RPG ever.
Yes, all the guys I've met, love 7 the best. I think 7 was really good (some great charachters) but I hated 9 so much. I wanted to kill the charachters (Freya was okay, Quina was ..., and Vivi rocked) the main charachters looked like they were 12, it just bothered me. Zidane just got really annoying really fast (cocky bastard...haha just kidding). And 3 is actually my 2nd favorite because of the fantastic story line, and Kefka was an awesome villian. He never had any purpose for evilness, he didn't hold some grudge against the world, and he wasn't casting revenge, he just wanted to take over the world and I have to respect him for that. He was just such a hilarious classic, original, villian.

And I agree Crono Trigger is one of the greats!!!!!

I do quite enjoy Final Fantasy, but I'm not liking where the series is going. FFX-2 is scaring me. The spin off series aren't going to be that great. My hopes on FFXI aren't high. o_o* Leave the series alone a year, Square. Do something new... or a new Chrono sequel!

I really enjoyed FFX (*teared at the ending*), but my favorite is FFIX. I don't even know why I love that game so much, but I do. It's one of the rare games that I can play over and over again without tiring.

The older games were enjoyable as well, but very few games manage to captivate me as well as the Chrono or Xeno series. Must have the next Xenosaga!!!

FFX-2, I screamed when I saw what they were doing with it. I read something in a magazine, and there was this huge picture of Yuna, but she was really slutty looking, it scared me. And I heard aeons might not be in this one? And Yuna has a gun? Final Fantasy isn't Final Fantasy without Summoning! AHH!

And I don't plan on playing 11, just because it's online. I don't want to pay monthly to play it.

Aeons definately will not be included in FFX-2, but I'm okay with this as it goes along with the story. I just really don't approve of all of the girls turning into sluts, and the creators saying this is because of their "new-found freedom". Umhmm. Yuna, at least, was raised very well and was very quiet. I just cannot see her willingly wearing the clothes they've got her in. Bleah. I also saw some video footage from the game... which involved Yuna... singing... pop music. >.< *thinking he'll be making sure nobody's around when he plays this game* I don't want to be seen. It's embarrassing.

i like FF7 the best too, its the first FF game i ever really played. FF8 was good, its a good second to 7. whoever said they hated the characters in 9, i completely agree with you. freya was so ugly i could not stand to look at her, zidanes tail really bothered me, the fact that garnet looked about 7 made me wonder, steiner was just...i dunno. vivi was awesome, quina was....quina....

FF3 was damn good as well, i really enjoyed it.

I think I would have to pick FFVI as my fav. (the Opera House scene= OMG) though it just edges over FFVII. I still need to play FFIV-V when I get the time. FFVIII is probably my least favorite of the PS1 bunch, thats not to say that I didnt like it though.

I rather favored the characters from IX, Amanos character designs are superior to Nomuras, IMO. Also, I think that Nobuo Uematsu's music lost a step from VII on. Try listening to the FFXI Grand Finale soundtrack disc, NOTHING from the new ones can touch that disc, with the possible exeption of One Winged Angel from VII.

Though as far as favorite RPGs go, Xenogears takes the cake by a long shot. Plus, Yasunori Mitsuda is probably my favorite composer over Uematsu. Mostly due to Xenogears, Xenosaga, Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross.

Mitsuda is a genius. His music is one of the biggest reasons why I favor the Chrono and Xeno series so much. While Uematsu's music fits beautifully in the games and the scenes they're used for, a majority of it is unbearable anywhere else, particularly in the latest installments. (FFX anyone?) Mitsuda manages to add the zip a scene needs, and is still great for listening outside the gaming world. This, I think, is particularly evident in Xenosaga. When I first heard the soundtrack I was worried. The music seemed too orchestral and dramatic to work in a video game. Somehow they pulled it off, the only problem being that the soundtrack is tiny and a few songs get overplayed a bit too much. Oh well. Quality over quantity is best, I suppose.

On the issue of FF charactor designs... I prefer Nomura. I like the more realistic, and even fashion oriented charactor designs her prefers. Amano's art is beautiful, but I can only stand so much of his ghostly looking people, and his charactors are never rendered well in the video games. When comparing the original art and the actual game footage, you can barely tell there's any relation between the two. Of course this is the designer's fault and not Amano's, but even so. If Nomura's charactors look more exact in game form than Amano's, I prefer Nomura. Amano is more cut out for the artsy, museum type stuff I think, anyway.

Si. I really love the way Mitsuda works in a celtic tone to some of his music. I also heard the soundtrack to Xenosaga long before I ever played the game, I was never really worried about whether or not it would work. I know he has a couple of non videogame CDs out, I need to track em down.

As for Amano/ Nomura, I think Amano's designs work far, far better in the FF's which emphasize a fantasy tone. Nomura fits more with the technological/ steam punk settings of FF 7, 8 and to a degree, 10. I've seen Nomuras designs for FFXI and while I know it is a MUCH different type of game, the characters just seem a little uninspired.

I have FF VII, VIII, IX, X. My favorites are a tie between FFVIII and FFX. I haven't seen the preview to FFX-2. I want to see if it would be as good as X. If not.... oh well.... I'll still end up buying it

I used to be FF fan, but after FFIX I just lost interest in the game. I stopped finding the game challenging. As for my favorite, I would have to say FFVI, and my least would be FFVIII and FFIX.
