I could have easily used the title, "First Taste" from the 1996 song by Fiona Apple, but it didn't play right in my mind. Anyway, I have my.....god I am gonna sound totally lame, first date on Friday. My mom set me up on a date ( YET ANOTHER REASON WHY THIS IS LAME) with a chick from her job, she's 19 so we're cool with the age thing and she liked my pic, so I said "eh". We talked on the phone a little bit, she wants to "fix {your} negativity" and take me to a movie and a Portuguese restaurant (that was my idea, I wanted to try the food). I don't know what to do, I kinda didn't wanna get hooked up in the first place ( I have a history of having my heart broken) and then I thought maybe I'm a little bit over my head to think that to begin with. So what should I talk about, what am I gonna do, what if this escalates any further, what if this huge run-on sentence thing gets longer without a question mark in its place, what if I can't stop rambiling to save my life, what if I like actually have feelings for this person even though I don't even know them yet and it's ridiculous for me to keep asking it? Finally, a question mark. Just in need of average advice I might have heard before but need to hear again for a morale boost and to stop these damn questions. Thanks guys

RELAX. IT'S JUST A DATE.

Go with the flow. If you're nervous about it getting serious, then just have fun with it. Get to know her, ask her questions, find things in common, go from there. If something pops into your head, just go for it, what do you have to lose? Might as well have stimulating conversation and a good time, if anything else.

One step at a time, man. This is just a first date. There are no commitments, no guarantees, don't expect anything and don't be afraid if something comes out of it. You've got a plan... you're going to a movie and a restaurant, cool. Do that. If you actually LIKE her and want to date her again, well... worry about that then (if it happens), don't bother with it now. You barely know her yet, lol.

You'll make a fool out of yourself... or she'll find it funny. So what? You're not going to be perfect, don't worry about it. Just try to be yourself.

Just wait until the first date's over, and then decide if you want to see her again. Just slow down, take a deep breath, and relax. You'll get through it okay and you might actually have a good time, lol. You'll be fine. Don't worry about it. Just be yourself and have a good time... don't get overwhelmed with all these anxious worries that might not even amount to anything. Try not to let the nerves get to you. Good luck.

I would go with alot of what Jane said.

You have alot of....*what Ifs* but I wouldn't really worry about all of that.
Its your first date, and just be your self, and always remember, if a person
can't like you for *YOU* then they were never really worth it in the first
place.
Find eachothers interests to start off with, and then just go from there.
Its really not that big of a things, its not like your going to just jump right into
a serious relationship, just get to know her, and see where things lead.
Have fun, and be your usual self.
