I know, I had a few things that I had to take care of so we could move forward with some coding on the site. I'm almost done and will be out of here soon

I have wanted that for a loooong time - I'm h appy with ppl knowing my name and the amount that people changing nicknames around here drives me bonkers!

One possible suggestion is enable first names but put it on the user's profile page not in the postbits, that way if you want to see someone's name you can but you're not cluttering up ever page with yet another (mostly) useless bit of garbage. We've already got avatars, signatures, banners, user titles, status icon for the board, status icons for IM programs and gifts that we see on ever damn page. Myself all I need to know is who said it and what they said, avatars help a little to identify a person but everything else is fluff.

I reocgnize this thread is very old and I'm bumping something ridiculous, but I think more of these ideas need to be revisited. As for information cluttering the postbits, every user has the ability to control the information that shows up in the postbits in their User CP. You don't HAVE to see all those bank points, gifts, messenger icons, avatars, signature banners, etc., if you don't want to see them.

I know that several people have suggested things along these lines, as well as having a male/female buddy icon in the postbit, etc. I still think these are worth thinking about.
