On all my boards I've added a profile field for your first name that will display in everyones posts. Is that something you all would like here or no?

I happen to know some people HATE the idea of using their real name on the internet.

So, would they have the option to choose what name to display?

That'd be kinda cool. But like TheLady said some people dont like that idea.

if they left the field blank in their profile nothing would show up in their postbit. It would be there for those that would rather go by their first name

This is a good idea for those that wish to use it. I have my reasons why i won't be using it. But those that know me well enough, will know my first name.

edit:
Plus this is now a public and free forum. So anyone can access it and get ahold of your information. it's not too hard to follow ip addresses and such. and posting your first name, well just be cautious. at least while the board gets under control.
