OK. So I'm back with a small review of the Flyleaf performance last night. Actually, I came back at 1am since I headed over to my sis's dorm in Brooklyn to hang out with her. So, doors were supposed to open at 6:30pm. But it wasn't even close. I was sitting outside the venue, which was pretty small I might add, since about 6:00 until 6:45. At around that time, Pat came out SANS DREADS (
) and I just said "hey wuts up Pat". And then we shook hands and he was like "You're the Jersey guy right?". I thought that was pretty cool that he remembered since the last time we met (12/19/05: Breaking Benjamin show) we hardly talked. So yeah. We had a VERY long convo including comments about the usefulness of matches. Lmao. I found it interesting that Brittany uses matches for the same reason Pat does. ![]() So yeah. Pat invited me over to the band's van. James was there but he was talking to the bassist from Dropping Daylight (who was pretty good...you guys should check them out) so I didn't introduce myself. After a while though, I introduced myself to James. There was a girl in the van. I guess she was the tour manager or SOMETHING but she was on a laptop. So yeah. After a while, Pat was like "I think I'm gonna go inside now to check the bands out. Wanna come?" So I went. The first band, White Silver, was from Sweden. They were pretty good. Then I went outside to call Caleb and Brittany, so I missed the seconds band's name but they were more mellow. Not my kinda thing. Then I went to pick my sis up from Canal St. (Chinatown in NYC) so she could see Flyleaf. We were back in time for the Dropping Daylight set. Not really much to tell from here on. Saw the Dropping Daylight set. Then saw Flyleaf come on. Their setlist was:
Oh and btw. Pat uses Ernie Ball bass strings. 50, 75, 95, 115. That's about it. See you guys on Saturday. Oh wait, I'm not going. ![]() |

IT ALL STARTED ON A DARK AND STORMY NIGHT.
Quite literally. Myself, Caleb, Tracie, Chris, Ceez, Maria and my mother all traveled to the show. We almost died because Ceez doesn't know how to drive. He tried to zoom into this space where this guy was trying to back up into and I wanted to punch him. I think I saw my life flash before my eyes. That car was about 2.5 inches away from us. Aside from the gas stop, we just went straight to the show. Once we got past the security, we walked in and Caleb got a free t-shirt for being from Louisiana. The dumb glittery girl was all 'Ohhh, that so sadddd. Wahhh. Is your house okay *squeak*?' Needless to say, they didn't pick the best hosts for the show. :| In my opinion, of course. We sat around the gate, and we heard Flyleaf doing sound check. They did part of I'm Sorry. The gate opened at about 6:30ish and we walked at an extremely fast pace toward the stage, and I think I died. Walking + me = no. The DJ played bad rap music at a rock show. If I had tomatos, I would've thrown them. Somewhere around 7 I saw a medic golf cart thing go by with Sameer on it and I was all *slaps Caleb's arm and points with question marks above my head*. I didn't know what was going on at the time. The band came out on stage and setup their equipment, sans Lacey and Sameer. During/After that, the glittery lady came back and threw t-shirts at people who screamed her name. She said it was cute. I thought she was stupid. :| Then the band started playing without Sameer, as he was off being sick. I personally felt that Jared did a super job covering both parts. I thought it might sound empty without two guitarists, but he did fabulous job. Before Fully Alive, Lacey said to keep Sameer in 'your thoughts and prayers, because he isn't with us'. She looked emo, but understandably so. Halfway through their set, it started raining buckets on our heads. And I'm not exaggerating. It was cold, liquidy wet nasty ass rain. I didn't like it. Rain + me outside in it = No. But hay, Lacey seemed pleased. I think she's secretly a sadist, and she was enjoying seeing everyone wet and cold. The Setlist was: Red Sam Breathe Today Perfect Fully Alive I'm Sorry Sorrow I'm So Sick Cassie Ceez is a pain in the ass, so after their set he was like HAY PAT GIVE ME SETLISTS. And the guard handed him one, and he gave me the other. Somehow we ended up with three. I think two of them were bunched together or something. One of the guards came up to me an asked if they had an album out, which was coo. Hopefully he looks into the band. If not, I'll find him and murder his children. He pointed out the fact that I sang along to all the words, and I felt pathetic. A little bit. Anyways! Their set was amaz0ng. I really enjoyed it. After that Lacey came out for 3.5 seconds to say hi. She recognized Caleb, and said that Sameer was in the hospital and that they had to go super quick. Later we found out from Ceez, who got called by Pat, that Sameer was dehydrated and wasn't feeling up to performing. This is a pictar of everyone. I hate Ceez. And I look like a tard. But yay. ![]()
