Hi Amy, I was hoping i would have met you at the Corpus Christi, Tx show this past Aug., but i didn't get to. Grr. So i'm going to ask here and i hope you reply. I wanted to know what your favorite Tori Amos songs are and why. I am a huge fan of Tori and i know you are too. Her newest dvd concert is out and its amazing! Have you seen it? Okay well another question i wanted to ask is about Bjork! What are some things that you are influenced by? I always find her style to be one, she's very different in that area, which is why i love her. I wanted to ask you about these two artists because i know you like them both. I put you along with these two women, because i find you with the same brillance and talent. I'll also add that..I know how you always say that you wouldn't be here without your fans, well alot of people, including me, wouldn't be here if it wasn't for your music. Just thought I'd say that and i hope to see you on your next tour here. xoxo

I've got a really good suggestion.

If you are talking about an individual artist, then maybe you should change the title to something like 'Hey Amy, what do you think of xxxx?'. It'll work a hell of a lot more then just having 'click me' in the title, and we will all know what this thread is about...

I think that, for most of us, Ev has "saved our lives" in some way, shape or form. It can be the literal way or the subtle way.

For some people, Ev LITERALLY saved their lives...gave them something that showed them that they weren't alone and could continue on with hope.

For other people, like me, Ev saved their lives in a more subtle fashion. I.e. discovering yourself, realizing something important, getting through a tough scenario. For myself, Ev (and Amy) helped me figure out who I was (I tried way too hard to fit in in elementary and middle school) and realize that I could be ME. And that was just fine. In all my dorkiness and weirdness and strange tastes and awkwardness...I could be me and do all right. Without Ev, without Amy as inspiration..I'm sure that I'd still be a lost conformist trying to fit in and not knowing who I was.

No matter how Ev has touched us, big or small, I think that all of us can say that the music connected with us in a way that no other music has before (well, for most at least lol), provided a lifeline of sorts.

Just look at the "Rock or Therapy" thread in the EvChat forum...almost EVERYONE said that Ev was their Therapy in some way, shape or form. Most people said 'both' (myself included), but there were a lot of people who said Therapy.

So...yeah. lol.

I wouldn't know what to say if I was Amy, either...but I agree with you guys. The music speaks volumes.

On to the true topic of this thread...nice post. I think that you asked a couple interesting questions, and I'd love to see what Amy says in reply

That was an awesome post!!!!! especially the part about not being here if it wasnt for amy's music....that is so true.....but i have to agree too that she doesnt have to say anything.....that is true....u can just listen to her voice all day and find some kind of peace.....its weird but wonderful!!!

Its hard to pick favorites, especially with bjork because theyre all so different. I love "baker" by tori amos. I listen to it over and over... its like it reminds me of a strange sad feeling I had a long time ago but I can't remember why. It just feels like goodbye. Also the song "Juarez." I have no freaking clue what she's talking about but I LOVE the music. As for Bjork, I love "Joga," its like a movie score. Oooo the strings! Also pagean poetry I've listened to a whole lot. Come to think of it I love vespertine ALOT, I don't know why the rest of the world didn't catch on. I'm very flattered that you would categorize me with these artists, who i respect so very much. Thank you.

after reading a couple interviews i found out you also listen to movie composers, right? shocked the hell out of me.. to think that a hard rock band is drawing influence from Elfman, Zimmer, and Armstrong.. or to think that one of my favorite singers has almost identical taste in music to my own, yet playes a style that i didnt think i liked before hearing you.. or to think that anyone shares my taste for that matter.
(im starting to think its the use of strings and choir backing you and the guitars that catches my ear. adds a whole new lever of depth when you do that)
i know a lot of people Amy, and most of them dont even know those composers exist, let alone listen to them on a regular basis. my mouth literaly dropped when i heard your tribute to Armstrong in the 2002 version of Whisper.

as far as putting you on the same plane.. i neednt remind you how many thousands of people on this board alone would agree with that notion in the blink of an eye, or how many people go out of their way to flock to your concerts, or that the success of Fallen and the tours speak for themself. you dont give yourself enough credit.

so if i may amend LammyComes question: what scores and other composers do you like? and have you ever heard the LOTR2 trailer version Lux Aeterna from Requiem for a Dream? (if not you REALLY need to. single best piece of music ive heard in my life).
