Francesca Lia Block
I was just wondering who all reads books by Francesca Lia Block. She just received the Margaret A. Edwards award for lifetime achievement in Young Adult Literature, and I had the pleasure and honor of attending her congradulatory luncheon and seeing her get her award. I hope that they post her speech somewhere on the internet, because I think most people in the room were sobbing. I know I was. It really was a fantastic speech, and she's such a fun person. It wasn't all tears though, most of the time I was laughing, but it was really a sentimental moment for me. She's one of those authors that has a sucess story that's worth writing an biography about. I was able to meet her personally after the luncheon, and she's so nice. It was definately one of the highlights of the ALA (American Library Association) convention this weekend.
I think all week people on the YALSA committee were making jokes about what they were going to do for the luncheon, because Francesca is such a fun crazy person. Our table decor featured confettei, mini sunglasses pins, and rubber lizards (if you've read The Weetzie Bat books, you'll know "Lanky Lizards"). She also had a disco ball take the place of a fancy lighfixture in the Chicago Hilton Hotel ballroom, and all the songs played were featured in The Weetzie Bat books. I believe you can buy the Francesca Lia Block iMix on iTunes, lol! But anyway, it was all really fun, and she's such a good author. Who else has read her books?

Aw, that's really cool.
I love her, she's my favourite author. I've rest most her books, Echo and Violet & Claire are my favourites so far. Although I really like the Weetzie Bat books..

I still have to read those. I just recently finished the Weetzie Bat books.... well not too recently. Like, Feburary. But I started Necklace of Kisses, which is really good, but incredibly sad.

I haven't read that one yet, I want to. I'm reading Girl Goddess #9 right now.
Of her books I've read + Violet & Claire [that was the first one] + Echo + Wasteland + I was a Teenage Fairy + The Rose and the Beast + Dangerous Angels/All the Weetzie Bat books

I actually made a FLB thread a few months ago, but it died with the crash.
YAY for a new one! I love Francesca Lia Block so much. She is my favourite author of all time. I've read; Echo. Wasteland. Dangerous Angels. The Hanged Man. Girl Goddess #9. Violet & Claire. I was a Teenage Fairy. The Rose and The Beast. I can't wait for Necklace of Kisses (August 2, 2005) to come out. <3 [edit] Quote:

I got an advanced Reader's copy at the luncheon. My dad had already borrowed a copy in April because he's a YALSA member, but he had to return it so I couldn't read it.
