Its sad it really is. Come on yea if they were in the war and they got burned or shot yea give them reconstructive surgery so that they can go about their normal lives without feeling bad about their looks.... but free elective cosmetic surgery ? hell no. i do agree with you PaleIsBeautiful they get away with to much. My x threw his dreams of going to college and becoming something more than just a military person becuz " this life is soooo easy i dont have to do anything" which is a load of bull becuz they dont do anything until they go into war and get shot and killed sorry venting a bit here its pisses me off lol can you tell ?*mutters*

If they do suck, then I agree with you.

They're out fighting a war and can possibly die while we're sitting on our asses in front of a computer at home or work, so we shouldn't be judging. I don't see anyone of us signing up to join the military. This should be the least of our problems, since a monkey's our president.

I totally agree that the benefits suck..there is no question about that. But free, elective, cosmetic surgery is stupid..it just is. I'm all for giving them better benefits that would be more useful and pratical. I think free cosmetic surgery is insane. And no..this isn't all I object to..not at all..but I wasn't going to write a post about everything I object to.

I agree..and I said that..I do thank them everyday for what they are doing. I have many friends who are currently in Iraq and I am truly grateful that they go out there and do something I have no intrest in doing..but I still object to free cosmetic surgery. Along with many other things...I object to..about our president, etc.

i'm in the military, and it bothers me that this pisses people off so badly, as others have stated, the benefits suck, and thanks to our leaders, they've gotten worse over the past couple of years, i agree that the money could be spent elsewhere, like extending tri-care to include more coverage for family, but actually come to think of it, tri-care does do that, and that's probably what this plastic surgery falls under, we are offered complete medical care for free, but for cosmetic surgery and such, you DO have to pay a premium, nothing is completely free, and if this service is given for free, it's because you have been wounded, i had a friend find that out the hard way after getting a grenade thrown into his hum v, so don't believe everything the TV tells you, but on a lighter note, there are some ugly motherfuckers in the service that could use some plastic surgery, hahaha, hope this all made sense, kinda typing fast I gotta go to work.

I don't believe everything on TV..but the Army plastic surgeron did say that this has been offered..for free..since plastic surgery began..if someone in the military hadn't been there too..I would have never accepted it as truth. And I'll say it again..yes..the military does not have good benefits..made worse by our president. I know that..I have a lot of friends in the military..it's just that I strongly feel that the money that is used to give people cosmetic surgery could be better used to give people in the military and their families more help..be it pay raises..better health care..better housing..not making them pay for their own plane tickets home from Iraq. I am in 100% agreement about the benefits sucking and they should be better..I just think offering free cosmetic surgery is not the way to handle it.

I'm in the Navy & i have to say that tri-care hoses us sometimes. i had to go to the hospital a couple of times for heart problems & tri-care paid 5% of my hospital bills & forwarded the rest to me. that total came to nearly $5,000 a pop!! now, navy relief is paying it off for me. everything comes with a price.
however, i just had a friend get a boob job. now, that sounds oh-so-west-hollywood, but it was really good for her. naturally he had hugenormous boobs (40DD) to begin with, which made her job hard. she works with the electronics on aircraft & sometimes she couldn't squeeze into the places she needed to fix stuff. she had back problems & it was hard for her to find clothes that fit her right. when we went out she didn't know if guys really liked her or if they were just attracted to her bodaceaous tatas. she also just had a baby, which made it that much tougher. it was a huge morale issue. she decided that as soon as she didn't have to breast feed anymore, she'd get the operation. now that she's had it done she feels alot better about herself & it's made her mobility 10 times better. she's able to work more efficiently than before, so i think that that kind of cosmetic surgery is beneficial to military personnel.
in the case of that other navy lady, she probably had jacked up teeth that caused her problems. i have naturally weak enamel on my teeth, so once every few months i get them whitened. that could be considered cosmetic right there. all i'm saying here is that sometimes there are outstanding reasons why someone would utilize these options. it is unfortunate that some people abuse these benefits when someone who is in need of help can't get it because some paperpushing barbie wants to have a different nose or whatever just to be attractive.
just my two cents

Getting a breast reduction can be medically necessary..like in the case of your friend..other things..you've got to admit..that money could be spent better..like paying for necessary medical treatments..or better housing..etc...
