Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire [MOVIE]

Ok, I searced, and didn't find any threads for this movie.
This is one movie I'm highly looking forward to. I've been a HP dork since the books came out, and the movies are astounding. After seeing the international trailer, my hopes are even higher. Here's a link to the movie's official website. http://harrypotter.warnerbros.com/gobletoffire/

Well, I'm actually pretty worried about this one. For starters, I thought the movies were only decent. The third one was very good, but the first two were only okay.

I'm really worried because I think that Chris Columbus had the right idea of making two movies and releasing them within a month or so of each other. There is absolutely no way to fit all the real IMPORTANT stuff that happened in that 700-page book into one movie when they had to cut out half of the SECOND book, which is the shortest book in the series.

It looks okay so far, just judging from what I've seen online and in trailers. They look like they've picked good people for the contestants. However, I seriously think that this movie won't be very good just because they'll have to cut so much out.

However, I'm going to go see it, and I'll be pleasantly surprised if it turns out better than my expectations (I'm of the opinion that the books are always better than the movies, anyway )

I totally understand what you're saying Katya. I saw an interview where they said if they were totally truthful to the books the movies would be like, 16 hours long. I hope that what they cut out won't have a massive effect on the movie, and what they have chosen to be in it will be able to pull the movie together, even with so much left out.

I think they cut the scene where the Weasleys pick up Harry (I love this moment! it is so hilarious!), we don't see Dobby or Winky at all, and there's no Ludo Bagman .
I didn't expect Mad Eye Moody to be like the actor they chose (and his eye!) but I think it'll be good.
And I've decided to throw popcorn at the screen if we don't see Harry shirtless (Dora said that too... it think hehe)!
Even though I'm complaining about those things, I am very impatient to see what teh almighty Voldemort will look like (didn't imagine Ralph Fiennes doing that part ) and alll the rest!

Glad you liked them.
I recently got book #6 and finished it in 5 days. Would have sooner, but school got in the way.

I will be the first to say the first two films of the franchise were so mediocre because instead of following the mantra of filmmaking, it basically adapted every single aspect of the book and threw it on-screen. People seem to over-look that the third film is so fantastic because it is so different than the novel. Books and film are two totally different mediums. That's why they aren't called the same thing. They are two totally different creative universes and to expect every last detail in the film is simply asking for a crappy movie. The third was also so good because they actually hired a competent director instead of that hack who's forte is '80s teen films. I'm sick and tired of people comparing films to movies simply because their fandom begs for it. The trailer is one of the most exciting I've ever experienced but it's lost on those who expect one unimportant line to be in the film simply because it was in the book. Jurassic Park for example. The book and the film are so contrasting, it's hard to believe they're the same story. Yet I adore them both. Honestly, you should see and read these things as separate entities, otherwise you're making the same mistake as Chris Columbus.

I do realize and know that they are two different mediums. I can't and don't expect everything to be the same between the two. I'm a fan of the movies and the books, no matter if they differ in whatever part, or aspect.

ARE YOU KIDDING? I LOVE the house elves! I was so excited for Dobby...I love him for some reason.

GoF is my favorite HP book so far...and I know they're not going to get everything into the movie. I like the movies and all, and I understand that they're different mediums from the books, but I still find them a bit disappointing. They leave a lot of important details out. Oh well...when the movie comes out, I'll try to enjoy it. But I know I'll like the book a whole lot more.
