Communicating with the band was not a benefit of membership. As far as I can recall, Paid Subscribers got to have a larger Avatar, and at some points a larger sig. There was also a PS only forum. There was no mod queue for the PSes, and we didn't have to see any sort of ads.

For a time EvBoard had a store, and only PSes could actually cash in their points.

The benefits of membership were that we didn't have to deal with gay ads and we were supporting a forum we've been on for quite a few years. I really don't have any need or want to communicate with anyone from the band as of this moment, but I did like having a forum in which the masses were slightly separated. (Meaning having our own special forum and supporting the people who've worked hard.)

It wasn't only Evanescence either, there were perks like contests and things that only PS could participate in and stuff like that.

Well, I must say I'm surprised that this is staying alive.

Welcome aboard, sir Unfortunately, I think you're in for a lot of work, at least at the outset. The previous owner did a lot to make the vast majority of us leave and not even want to look back.

Anyway, I'm very interested to see what you'll do with this place. Best of luck weeding through everything; we've got a lot of stuff to read through. If you need any help figuring things out with how the board used to be run or something, I'm sure a lot of us would be more than happy to fill you in.

As for the paid subscriptions, Smurfs (as we called ourselves) had access to a PS-only forum, larger signature and avatar limitations, no ads on the board at all, and were exempt from the mod queue if their stats would have normally not permitted them to post freely. We also had a larger PM inbox. I think normal members had 100 messages as their limit, and PSes had 250. Mods had 500.

And I'm really glad that you're an Ev fan. That's awesome. It doesn't really work out when the admin of a large fan forum hates the band (as ToB had for a couple of years). Thanks for all the work, current and pending.
