Jakalope

I saw their video for "Pretty Life" on MuchMusic a few times and love the song. Anyone else heard of them? Here's a little tidbit about them:

Quote:
Jakalope Album nears completion

Orange Signs Elusive Jakalope

March 9, 2004…The Orange Record Label is thrilled to announce the signing of Jakalope as the newest addition to the label’s ever-expanding and eclectic roster. Jakalope is a collective of some of the most respected musical pioneers of the past 20 years..

The brainchild of world-renowned studio genius Dave “Rave” Ogilvie (Skinny Puppy, Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson, David Bowie, etc.) Jakalope was formed in the spring of 2003 with one mandate – creating irresistible music.

Aubrey Winfield, Dir. Of A&R for the Orange Record Label is tickled about the Jakalope project “This is one of those cases in life where the creed ‘if you really want something, ask for it’ couldn’t be more true. After witnessing Dave Ogilvie in his environment mixing other projects for Orange, and how inspired I was by his talent, I asked him if he would consider someday making a whole concept record with us and it turned out he’d had an idea brewing for some time and voila - Jakalope was born! The excitement surrounding this project internally is intoxicating…we can’t wait to share it with everyone - Skinny Puppy fans, Nine Inch Nails fans, well just music fans really, it’s going to be magic”.

While working at Warehouse Studios in Vancouver, Ogilvie came across a talented young vocalist by the name of Katie B. Looking to form a group involving the singer, Ogilvie approached Don Harrison, Don Binns and Don Short to become involved with the project. “The three Dons” are best remembered as the crunching bottom-end of seminal Canadian rock band Sons Of Freedom. This "kill-on-command rhythm section" were without peer in Canada in their heyday. Next up was Anthony Valcic. As an artist Valcic was a member of electronic pioneers Moev and as a producer/engineer/re-mixer/programmer he is known for his work with Download, Skinny Puppy, Orgy, Staind, and Trapt, amongst others.

As Jakalope began to take shape, Ogilvie let his friend Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails) in on the secret. Trent loved the concept and immediately stepped in to collaborate, offering his brilliant producing, writing and playing skills to the project.

Jakalope are currently in the studio creating their debut album. As word of the project leaks out, more and more artists are expressing interest and stepping into the dynamic collective. Recently Monster Magnet and Jamey Koch (Bob Rock) have come on board to take a coveted slot on this album along with legendary punk rockers S.N.F.U. Future collaborators that are on deck and clamoring to enter the studio as part of the esteemed Jakalope line-up include Kat Bjelland from Babes In Toyland, Atticus Ross from 12 Rounds and Mikee from Sikth.
”The creation of Jakalope has been a amazing experience for me and I am thrilled to be working with friends, old and new. I've been waiting to take the time to do this project until I found the proper home, and Orange is the place! Now the world can hear it and finally some questions will be answered." says Jakalope founder Dave Ogilvie.

A Jakalope single is scheduled for release to radio in April of this year and the debut album should follow in June.

Yes, I've heard of them, and I like what I've heard so far. Unfortunately, I haven't gotten to see their video , and Much took it off their rotation list. Have any of you been to the website? It's this truly organic experience, and there's an array of puzzles and what not to access certain sections of the site. I just *now* cracked all the puzzles basically it's just streams of their music, though, and wallpaper. The CD comes out October 26th!

I saw the video for "Pretty Life" on MuchMusic, and I liked it. The lead singer is pretty damn hot also if you ask me. I'll probably check out their cd when it comes out.

That's awesome. I can't wait. It's weird though all we have from them is a single and a video. No mention of an upcoming CD...well it did say something about a CD in the info i posted but apparently it was supposed to be out in April or something. Oh well. Thanks a lot for the notice.

The key to the third puzzle is this:

After all the black text is written (TH.E TRUE pa...tH. etc.), highlight it with your mouse. You should specifically look the for the words 'ThE KEY' and click them. Then this little pop-up will come up with a riddle. The answer to the riddle is 'hybrid'. After this, it'll scramble the word and write 'drevar'. *That* (drevar) is the answer to the fourth puzzle. I hope I've been some help!
