Hey, we've got some great new talent here on the thread! I shall add you to the list of new artists who need to post more. Your poem was amazing. I really dig the word choice too, it shows a very intelligent person behind that pen. Also, the song was very sweet. If I was your fiance, I would insist on you singing it at the wedding. Either that, or surprise him with it.

All in all, a great beginning to your thread!

First of all, thank you guys so much for the compliments! Um, about a year back I wrote a poem called "Whispering" and sent it to poetry.com. Sure enough, it was published in a big $60 book, and I'm hoping child will get published. Here's Whispering...

Whispering

Shining soflty are your eyes
You whisper sweet to me
Forgotten words that fill my heart
You wanted me to breathe

You saved my sould from evil
You showed my eyes no wrong
I always knew you loved me
I knew it all along

You spoke no lies you spoke no bad
Your heart was full of love
Now your whisper fills my ear
Cooing sweetly as a dove

But tomorrow you will be no more
As taunting as it seems
For in reality you never were
You were only in my dreams

A much more amature poem in my opinion, but still good enough for publishing apparently. That one was about a dream I had about a love that never was...it was so weird and emotional...kind of beautiful in a strange way. Not bad for a nOOb, huh? Lol J/K...So, I've got short stories and little bits and pieces and proses, if you guys are interested in more. Post your own if you'd like!

I really liked that one! The ending was great! I can see why it was published, as the ending verse is totally unexpected.

Hello, I didnt know where else to post this, so I thought I'd do it here. I'm not a poet and I dont write poetry very often, but I was watching Gia (a movie with Angelina Jolie, in case you didnt know lol) and it inspired me to write this. It's not very good, as I say I dont write alot, and there's no rhyme or form to it, it's very rough right now so be gentle! But constructive criticizim is always welcome.

Barely An Ounce

Never had something so small
had so much power.
Barely an ounce and yet
it's hold was fierce.
When she held her she knew
she could never give the same high
as that small plastic straw.
Her whole Hundred and thirty five pounds
ached to give her the same pleasure
but she could never be strong enough.
She looked at the woman,
sitting so near
the love of her life
so beautiful, yet lost
the control the plastic had
she wished she could posses.
Though the hoplessness overwhelmed her
she prayed
just for a moment
she to could be
Barely an ounce.
