Loving this song
This is one of the songs i was most looking forward to, simply because i had a taste of it with the trailer, and wanted more, it was even more tormenting than to not hear any of it at all. I'm definately not disappointed with anything in this song. I'm loving the lyrics, and i love the way that the classical music sorta... flows with the guitar.

If anyone was worried how they would play this song live, I asked Amy and John last night (TOD London premiere) if they would play this song on tour. They replied yes. I think you'll find they'll have the strings pre-recorded.

I can't express in words exactly what I feel for this song, it is the song I was waiting for the most and the wait really worthed. This is my favorite son of the album, and I knew it would be since I first heard part of it in the sample video from The Open Door, it was so deep, so hard and so beautiful, and once I heard it completely, I confirmed that it was.
I really like the lyrics, they're way to direct, but they're beautiful and I love it. I also love the music, how it starts very soft and at some point it gets hard and the soft again, it's an excellent combination in my opinion, and it also goes more than fine with Amy's voice, she managed to have the perfect tones in her voice in that song, and all of that together makes of this song the best one of Evanescence (For me, not for everybody, I don't want to start arguing just because of this) ![]() |

Just heard it for the first time. From the little 30 second clip I heard, I sort of had a vision in my head about what the song would sound like. And after listening to the whole thing, I was dead wrong. Don't get me wrong though.. to say that I'm disappointed is completely false. It rocks. It'll just take some time to get used to. I've listened to it 3 times in a row and I love it more and more everytime I hear it.

Out on your own
Cold and alone again Can this be what you really wanted, baby? I LOVE THE FIRST VERSE mmmmmmmmm Amy's voice is soooo awessssome in this song, it soars. I love how the softs contrast so well with the louds, how amy can sound soft but so strong at the same time...MmmMmMm...lacrymosa...one of my favourite songs on the album. The choir is also BEAUTIFUL and haunting...wOo! haha ![]() |

Love this song, stings kill me. And I can't get over her voice...
And so some people think it's about Shaun, some people think it's about Ben. I really think it's about Ben, especially the "Out on your own, Cold and alone, Can this be what you really wanted, Baby?" because he left. And perhaps "Blame it on me, Set your guilt free" is commenting on how Ben might feel some guilt for leaving. "Nothing can hold you back now", Ben obviously felt like the band was holding him back (as he was Amy) so she's telling him to do his thing. One thing is for sure, if it is about Ben, damn she's sassy about it. I can totally feel this really ironic and even a little mocking tone (using "baby" and "honey", "my love"). I love it. Just MHO. |

Hmm, I think I'm definitely in the minority here in that I do not like this one. While I think the concept is pretty brilliant, the execution is not. I respect the creativity involved, but the way it comes across to me is as if half a song was written, and no one could figure out what to do with it, so they found a lovely piece of classical music and tacked it on there. The two parts just do not gel for me, and the result seems very discordant. I don't know how to explain it better.
The vocals are incredibly powerful, though, I must admit. And the strings at the beginning kick my ass. (In a good way.)
